2022 Kia Stinger

Current market conditions notwithstanding, , historically the base GT could have been purchased (via lease buyout) for a little over $30K and the top of the line GT2 for right around $40K, which would put the GT2 very close to the IS350.

Because these aren't hot-sellers for Kia, they have insane lease incentives (and you can buy immediately after you lease) with the GT2 to be under $40k which would have more features (360 camera, ventilated seats, HUD) that the IS350 may not have.
I'm looking at it because the IS350 is just far too small for my kids in the backseat (13 yo and 15 yo) and my wife will definitely not let me have a Supra.
That said, thanks for your experience and detailed write-up - I guess the question is, if you could get a new Stinger GT2 for cheaper than you would a new IS350...would you?

Launch control looked a bit underwhelming, but maybe that's just the all-wheel drive taking away some of the drama. Overall, not bad! Definitely seemed like the new engine pulled harder at highway speed.

I thought for a 4 cylinder it didn't sound too bad and pulled pretty well. But the 3.3TTV6 is going to be way quicker and sounds better.

The Kia's sounds like a six-cylinder, almost... I agree though even the natural sound, as well as the performance, are not too shabby for a base engine.

This guy has a LOT of fun doing car reviews.
This is the new turbo 4 which seems quite impressive.

2022 Kia Stinger gets 300-hp I4, new sport exhaust for V6
300hp I4

Kia's entry-level GT-Line model is the stand-out here, getting a 45-horsepower bump thanks to the new 2.5-liter engine. This is a variant of the same engine offered elsewhere in the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis family, and 300 horsepower is a pretty typical output figure based on the othermodels it has appeared in. It's a chunky, potent engine that will feel right at home in this midsize grand tourer. Kia says it will do 0-60 in 5.2 seconds (in AWD guise) with no penalty in fuel economy, so that's a win-win.The V6 model gets a power bump as well, but not so much that you'd notice. Kia upped the 3.3-liter from 365 horsepower to 368. We suppose that rounds even more cleanly to 370 now, but it doesn't really move the needle. The better news is that the GT is now available with an electronically controlled adaptive exhaust, which should wake the otherwise tame sedan up a little bit.
“The Stinger confidently shows Kia’s ability to build a sport sedan that can compete – and beat – the best the world has to offer. It is definitive proof of our proud and evolving engineering prowess,” said Sean Yoon, president and CEO, Kia Motors North America, in the company's announcement. “We continue to push Stinger to new heights as it is the catalyst behind our dynamic model lineup, from the award-winning Telluride to the highly praised K5. The Kia Stinger is world-class, and the refreshed 2022 model continues to evolve expectations.”
You'll be able to spot the 2022 model on the road easily since it'll be wearing Kia's redesigned logo on its nose and tail. The other updates are largely nip-and-tuck, but if you look closely, you'll spot new headlights and tail lights (with standard LEDs) and some fresh wheel designs. Inside, the it gets a new 10.25-inch infotainment system, ambient LED lighting and updated seats, along with some new trim bits. It's also equipped with the latest offerings in Kia's driver assistance and safety suite.

Nice to see KIA up the ante with a 🔥 fire breathing 300hp I4 turbo in a non luxury car brand . Hopefully Toyota gets off their butts and bring out some new engines soon.

The 2.5T in my Santa Fe is similar I believe, but lower power (277 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque), probably due to not as good exhaust/intake breathing more than anything. In sport mode my Santa Fe (AWD) is really snappy, very responsive. Fuel economy isn't great, I'm getting about 22mpg in mixed driving, but I don't care.
