2021 Jaguar XF Refresh: Goodbye 6-cylinder
Brand new interior, but going the route of Volvo, the 6-cylinder options have all been killed off. XF Sportwagon and XE are both discontinued in the States.

Two liter four cylinder engines are now the only choices. I guess customers don’t care about cylinder count anymore? Jaguar sold a lot of cars in the past to people who wanted to brag about owning a V12.

The reduction to the 4-cylinder options was likely done to appease their Chery Chinese overlords like Volvo to Geely. Jaguar wants to electrify their whole lineup so the XF is on borrowed time.

I wonder if the new inline 6 didn't fit the sedan chassis. Having the XF 4-cylinder only and to straddle the loss of the XE is a tough little pill to swallow for such a storied luxury brand, but they sell nearly no vehicles here.

This was never a popular car, I don't see anything about the refresh that will make it any more popular, especially losing the 6 cylinder and being 4 cylinder only. Interior does not even look luxurious or what you expect from a Jag.

Wow, poor Jaguar. Always liked the sedans, generation after generation. 4-cylinder only is not a good look. Just not competitive in any way, but this is the future. These smaller companies just have to try to embrace it sooner to stay relevant. Sad to pretty much see that this is likely the end of the line for their sedan lineup (until the electric XJ comes....hopefully).

Get used to 0.2 litre 3-cylinder engines with 78 pounds of boost as auto makers scramble to meet emissions and efficiency standards.

Didn’t they just develop a brand new Inline 6? Very strange move.
This car has poor exterior styling to go with cheap interior.
Also where is the new XJ?
Range Rover is so much better run - its hard to believe both are under one company.

Ah, that 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 was a gem. Shame it's not an option on at least the "S" model.
I drove one a couple years back: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/car...-prestige.html
I do really dig the new styling. It's gotten subtle changes, but it was already good-looking.

Historically, Jaguar has always excelled with their coupe (XK, F-Type, etc) and flagship (XJ) offerings. But everything else has been ho-hum at best. Even before the XF and XE, they were struggling to make a competitive case for the S-Type and X-Type. And while I have a soft spot for the S-Type, it was never that much of a standout in its segment aside from its looks.
Here's hoping that they nail the next electric XJ.
