Sprinters, as I understand it, are considered commercial trucks, which are not held to the same CAFE/emission-standards as passenger cars.

MM, you know I'm in Texas, tons of NEW diesel F250, Ram trucks -- please don't tell me these things don't belch out stinky carcinogens right into my face....I deal with it 5 days a week on my daily commute

I don't care about the 1 out of 50000 that buys a diesel BMW or Mercedes...but they sure don't help the situation.

That's not to say that truck-diesels have no regulations at all, but, yes, they are much more likely to belch out the more traditional pollutants than today's car-diesels.
