so i bought a used white toyota camry
hell has frozen over officially. and it must be a 2020 thing.
me before:
- camry is the ultimate 'appliance' of a car, so boring
- definitely super reliable though
- i don't buy used cars, only new
- i hate white cars
me recently:
- hmm... lease is up on my g90 in march, what to get next?
- nothing is really grabbing me
fate:
- family member decides to sell her white 2014.5 (yes there's a .5 model, lol) toyota camry XLE and get the obvious safe replacement, a rav4 limited
- said camry has less than 20K mi. on it and has been meticulously maintained.
me:
- makes sense to get this camry as a company car so my next personal car doesn't have to 'do it all' and because
- also makes sense to not have to 'rush' to get something when g90 lease is up, and i may buy the g90 out of the lease since the miles are so low (28k right now, 5mos left)
so i'm now the proud owner of a 2014.5 camry xle with less than 20k mi. so hell has frozen over.

the ".5" model year change apparently added the backup camera
took some futzing to pair my phone to the entune system, had to watch a youtube video to get it done and do a soft reset of the system (holding camry audio power button down for a few seconds and delete/repair).
i see why some people don't like entune... one thing they got 'wrong' from the UX standpoint is not doing "object" "verb" actions, like "select phone" then "delete" or "remove". no, on entune you see your phone in a list but DON'T select it to delete it, you press a 'remove' button at the bottom, THEN pick your phone.
entune didn't download my contacts automatically, i had to go into settings and tell it to, and it did, quickly.
i'm guessing this isn't the upgraded jbl stereo but i have to say i'm pleasantly surprised by the audio quality!
car has tinted windows and clear bra material over the front end.
nice that rear seats fold down.

that thought hadn't crossed my mind.
thanks, besides not having the latest safety stuff (i'll miss blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise in particular) and styling, it feels like new.

I had a 2013 Camry as a company car, named it Jane I think for plain Jane lol. It was boring indeed but did the job. After that, it was a Tacoma then another Camry, and now a 2020 Prius lol. I won't complain about a free car as a company benefit, the Supra and GX provide some balance.
