Weird, I never really noticed that 4Runners had the front license plate drilled into the bottom part of the front bumper cover. Looks a little more normal on your old 4Runner but reminds me again of why I hate front tags on any car, it just ruins the looks IMO.

Congrats. I like the family photo. Nice shades of navy blue. It's a shame the 4.6L V8 is not optional. How does the 4.0L V6 (270hp / 278lbft) feel vs the 2004 4.7L V8 (268hp / 315lb⋅ft)?

I am somewhat shocked 2021 still has a 5-Speed Auto and not a 6-Speed.

Thanks. So far...so amazing. It does handle awful with the 20in...but still love it. The commanding view out of the dash is just right.

How so? Please elaborate. Cornering should be improved, but ride is likely be worse.

Compared to my 04, the steering is brutal. It’s like it’s hard to figure out fast you can go into a curve as when you steer it feels like you are going to fast. My 04 not so. Both have a hydraulic shock absorbers system but the big wheels feel too large

My 04 is 235hp on premium fuel and a little less on reg. The new one has more power at speed but doesn’t hAve the low end torque feel inherit to V8. As for refinement, the V8 is silent and very smooth...the new one feels more mechanical and more machine like...it does feel stronger in a sense but I think that is because you feel the motor more in stuff noice or vibrate...hard to explain but you really hear and feel it differently

And thanks for the congrats.

So I looked into it. My phone calls are under 3G...but when I am running data, my phone goes to LTE. It’s my phone plan that does that.

The LED headlights in my Tacoma are awesome. I like the LDA/LKA in my Tacoma, but hate it in my GS where it's dinging all the time with false alerts. I just keep it off in the GS. I would never buy another car without radar cruise, though. I love that feature. With so much traffic, I feel like it finally makes cruise control useful again. Do remember that you can use it as regular (non-radar) cruise control if you prefer that.
!
thanks for thinking of me. Yeah, I was stuck getting the 3rd row seat...options are changed now in Canada and you must get the 3rd row if you want full time 4WD or the limited package. My 04 gave the choice. Good thing. Is that it can be removed. But I had to pay for it. Other than that, full time 4WD was a must and the color blue...had to take the black interior as well. I did get a rust proofing stuff they added to the frame and engine bay areas as well as a clear film at the front. First time I have ever paid for clear film.

Oh I see, according to Wiki it was the 2005 model year that gained VVT-i and 268hp. Thanks for clarifying.

One of the coolest things about the 4Runner is the rear glass slide down feature

I agree, it's amazing that more manufacturers don't have that feature. There are only a few with the 4Runner being one of them. My business partner and I were looking for a Nightshade 4Runner for that one reason so he could have that window down for his dog. We ended up getting a MDX because the lease deals were way better but that rear window was a big deal.

Yeah it's very unique. Maybe they have a patent on it or something. I was a big fan of my 2003 Explorer because it's rear tailgate had the half glass so you don't have to open the whole trunk hatch. I also love the BMW X5 with it's split tailgate

Honestly, when you have it now on two 4Runners, it’s not that great or big a deal. I would trade it for some other feature if I could. I never really used the window in my 04 and I doubt I’ll use this window much. . If I had a dog it would be great but I don’t. And you can’t really open the sunroof and rear glass at the same time.

Nice ride! The 4Runner is probably my favorite Toyota product. I think you'll be glad that they haven't thrown the 3.5 in it yet, as I hear tell that the 3.5 is far less torquey down low than the 4.0, at least in the Tacomas.

I wouldn't mind off-roading in a TRD Pro 4Runner myself.

So why the Limited, and not a TRD Pro, Off Road or SR5 model? Honestly, if you didn't want some of the newer options like even Carplay, which I would love to have in my car, why wasn't a preowned GX considered?
