.
Could be anything. My guess is that is a supplier issue as this is affecting models at so many different plants worldwide. so it can't be a assembly issue.

Every company does this.

why does my favorite car company have to keep disappointing me like this... i'm happy i don't sell them anymore, it was tough at times to try and stand behind something when you know that same company used to make far superior products

How so? In this case the pump is not reliable and is being recalled as a result.

Because reliability is based on widespread issues that can be documented by hundreds of people in assessments like Consumer Reports, recalls are preventative measures based on a handful of issues reported by a handful of people that the manufacture feels is important enough to take action. In this case, because it's a potentially lethal issue, Toyota has no choice but to issue a recall. Most people driving their 2013-2020 Toyotas and Lexuses aren't going to have their engines suddenly stall.

Most could mean 50.1%.

They've have up to 7 years to see if they have the problem, and I've yet to see it appear as a widespread issue on Consumer Reports.

I doubt its much of a reliability issue...just a safety issue. It will be expensive though. Its okay...Toyota can afford it. They saved money by killing all V8 development
