if you want a big screen portrait is easier to fit in the center stack and easier for the driver to reach. Imagine if it was landscape, how do you reach the far right side
This looks bigger than the Rams but the tablet slapped on the dash look is a bit eh. Plus note the lack of hardbuttons. Ram still gives you hard buttons for commonly used controls so you dont have to menu hunt

That looks insane.

Why?!? Does it being that big improve anything for the driver? I don't see how. Size for the sake of size is just stupid.

If anything, it brings the core screen content up a little higher and potentially closer to the driver's field of vision.
It's a much more premium look than the current model, which has a ton of hard plastics around the center stack.
Current Expedition for reference.

I'm in the minority here, and although i agree this screen is a touch too big IMO, i would rather have this than a sea of hard buttons on the dash. Much cleaner looking this way, IMO.
And yes, i understand there is a strong argument that hard buttons are easier for the driver to feel for while driving, but with steering wheels having most of what's needed on a daily drive, i don't see that argument holding up as strongly as it has in the past.

Cleaner looking until the screen is covered in fingerprints...

I've always thought the screen in the Navigator is a tad too small, and certainly could go bigger in size - but that is overdoing it by a little bit.
That said, assuming FoMoCo wants to keep supply chain costs & efficiencies simple, have the same size that's already in the Mach-E (for example) across the other line up makes sense.

Pole Position
Wouldn't that be a distraction at nighttime when you're looking to make a right turn? It's slightly in your field of vision but enough to distract.

Obviously haven't sat in this, but i doubt it's a major distraction and I'm sure lots of testing went into this with people of varying heights to determine the exact placement. Even the interior rearview mirror these days is more of a blockage in my opinion, in many cars.
