The Toyota Vellfire/Alphard/Lexus LM is just a minivan built on the old FWD-based Toyota New MC platform that was used by the previous generation of Corollas/Prius/Lexus CT/HS, RAV4/Lexus NX and the previous generation Toyota Mirai I.
You can call it a Toyota Crown, but Vellfire is no GA-L RWD-based Toyota Crown.

they are not calling it Toyota Crown, they will be calling them (Toyota) Crown Vellfire, Crown Kluger, etc.

Makes sense, its a uplevel sub-brand for the China market. Sort of confusing if you don't live there.

I might be in the minority here, but I really like the Vellfire/LM350, if I recall correctly, the interiors are really nice on those vehicles. Though, they don't make much sense in North America.

you are not in minority, it is widely considered the best minivan in Asia, including those from MB. Which is why they sell so well and which is why LM350 sells well in China with some crazy $200k price.
