Yeah it was. It seemed to be particularly popular on Lexus models back in the day.

That would be an incredible car to own. I’m a huge fan of the 98-00 LS400.

It would be a great buy!

Thats amazing, good for the seller!

These cars are going up in value. I remember a year or so ago a similar time capsule sold for like $13k on BAT and everybody in the LS400 forum was complaining about it (I dont really get that but okay). Thats why I posted this here and not there.

You guys are overpaying for the LS. These examples are common and regularly imported to NZ from Japan with miles as low as 10,000km

Here is an example - that’s about $5000 USD.

https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/use...2860144950.htm

Note the higher grade touch nav screen that
wasn’t offered in US.

We didn’t buy it lol

When you have a free and open auction, it’s hard to say someone is overpaying. It’s the definition of market value.

surprised to hear that, being it was on nearly every 90s lexus. Including my 94 SC300 which had them swapped for chrome.

thats correct. Gold plates were not dealer add ons in Japan. They left the factory like that as part of a colour scheme.

New Zealand, Russia and Australia are the last remaining OECD nations without fuel efficiency standards.
Second hand Japanese cars such as the Lexus LS400 are imported to New Zealand and Australia at cheap prices. New Zealand has more Japanese cars than the total population of the country.

Nice to see pristine samples out there. All a matter of what the buyer finds reasonable.
