I see what you mean with the mirrored effect. Your tint shop night be able to show you some film that may not have that effect-Maybe hold it up to a side window. Just guessing here though.

IIRC, it is the double pane windows they use that does that. A good ceramic film will keep the heat out without making it too dark or reflective. I have an 80 ceramic on my full windshield - you can’t tell it is there but it keeps the heat out.

Yeah theres no way to avoid the mirrored look, because the tint shows through that since its on the inside. Its well discussed on the MB forums. I don't dislike it, its just different. I'm thinking something light, like maybe 50%...
The IR glass also already cuts 50% of infared heat so I wouldnt do the Stratos like I did on the Lexus, I'd go down to Pinnacle and save a little money.

Looks like 20% VLT
Definately do Ceramic tint. If you don't you risk delamination of the dual paned glass over time. (cloudiness and or bubbles between glass layers)

Oh I would only do Ceramic.
Here's another one that looks good. I don't dislike the mirrored look, it looks high end its just different.

I like the lighter tint on white or silver cars. Don't care for the big contrast between the dark tint and the light paint.

Also, BMW, when they were a driver focused company, used to make all of their orange to be the least distractive to the eyes at night and they could be dimmed down to barely visible. But they caved in to all the LED craze with all the RGB effects all over the cabin.

It's pretty, but the novelty runs out fast. I usually shut all the screens or dim the down as much as possible when driving at night so that I can concentrate on the road. Did you ever drive a Saab? They used to have a "night mode" that was inspired by their jets, where only the speedo would stay lit and everything else went dark? Mike probably remembers this.

Oh, my wife loves this as well, she gets very amused by all the lighting. I too love the design, but I don't like the fact that it is very distracting at night. This actually relates to the thread we had a while back, discussion various headlight technologies and their effectiveness. One thing to keep in mind, no matter how effective your headlights are, if you have a bunch of giant brightly lit screens and RGB effects all over the cabin, your eyes adjust accordingly and can not see far ahead.
