I've driven the 4cyl a few times and it's been great. A co-worker traded in his 6 cyl for the 4 cyl and he loves it as well. Its quiet, smooth and has plenty of low end torque. Not to mention the fuel economy. The transmission and its tuning is key to having the right gear on tap.

I feel the same about the Lexus 2.0t, I am extremely happy with it in my GS and NX, and I've owned very powerful V8s over the years. Even better, not many others seem to like them so they sell for cheap on the used market.

I just don't agree about feel with those 4cyl engines. The E350 I had the engine felt buzzy at times, and coarse. Compared to say the 3.5L in an ES or the GS, those engines just feel much better and more premium.

Noticed something interesting looking out the rear view mirror of my S560 this morning...the rear window has no defroster lines...its fully heated internally. Little things like that really are what set it apart from the LS.

Interesting, is the rear window like the Land Rover heated windshields?

Wow. Is that really the case? Heated with air like a vent?

Yep, it’s like the picture pbm posted above. If you look really close there are internal heating elements within the glass itself like you see in those Land Rover windshields. I don’t see any vents back there.

probably a case of perspective. imo, NO 4 cyl sounds good under load. they can try to hide it with sound deadening, noise cancelation, etc., but it's never going to sound good. but in non-load driving the latest 4 cyl engines are pretty amazing.

Glad you like yours but I can’t agree. The Lexus 2.0t has lag, sounds bad, and just isn’t satisfying in any way to me at least. The experience of a luxury car starts and ends with the engine imho.

No, even without load they have this distinct "lugging" or "chugging" sound that completely destroys the premium feel. For those who don't care, they are great.

the 2.0T in the C300 is fairly satisfying but only between like 2000 and 3500 rpm when you get that initial shove of boost, below there's just no power and above it just starts sounding lame and doesn't have that nice revving of a n/a engine... with a tune i can see it waking up nicely

anyway, none of this has anything to do with steve's S560. perhaps this thread has run its course. Steve, if you want to give updates on the car, you can start a new thread.
