You know I should probably mention I do really like the brand, makes me a lot of money and are usually not hard to work on.

Maybe owners will get lucky and their Hyundai/Kia EV's will roll off a cliff!
If one person tells a story about one vehicle, I consider it anecdotal. However, if a mechanic has worked on hundreds or thousands of vehicles and has dealt with hundreds or thousands of owners and parts suppliers, I don't consider their opinion anecdotal. In fact, it is exactly the type of opinion I seek out prior to spending my hard-earned money. Vehicles are ever-increasingly more complex and expensive to buy and maintain, so, why not consider all the advice one can get?

LOL. So some troll poster on Reddit made up a fake story about being a Kia mechanic that had a customer's car with 600K miles and 9 free engine replacements. No VIN provided, no dealership even named, and looking through his comment history it's clear he isn't even a mechanic. Yet the story blew up on Reddit where gullible teenagers ate up the whole thing and then spread it to several news sites, where the Redditor proceeded to troll them some more by claiming that the owner replaced the Kia with a Saturn Vue.
Yup. This is why I don't take anecdotes seriously, especially about Hyundai/Kia vehicles. But it really says more about how gullible people are on the internet, and how they'll believe any piece of nonsense that validates their personal beliefs like this over statistical evidence.

And it also bears mentioning that, over a century ago, ICE powertrains weren't exactly perfected overnight either.

How does one know when a given automaker is arrogant?

Amazing how gullible the internet can be, every detail of this falls under the lightest scrutiny.

Just when you thought it was safe to get back in your recalled Hyundai,…. now we have exploding seat belts.

I might gamble on buying a car with potential reliability issues, but I wouldn't gamble on buying a car that doesn't protect my family's safety! It's odd how auto executives (and not just at Hyundai) must gamble with people's safety when they make decisions regarding recalls and fixes. It all comes down to dollars and cents, as in, what is the cheapest fix that we'll come out ahead on? The execs must consider the millions their company will lose in lawsuits for injuries/deaths as a result of a cheap fix vs a more expensive fix that will better protect drivers and occupants. On one hand it seems callous, on the other, it's a business decision. One could argue it's an easy decision as protecting drivers/occupants is good business. However, if the CEO bankrupts the company, everybody loses. I wouldn't want to be in their position--playing God.

Looks like Elantra N is affected by exploding seat belt recall. Disappointing.
No OTA update on the parking recall for the Ioniq 5/EV6. Have to take it to the dealership. Not fun (mainly the Kia dealerships).
