And another recall.

All it takes is a loose nut

Unfortunately, Hyundai and Kia have lagged behind other automakers in making them standard equipment,"

Unsurprising, if it's not a PDK I don't really trust any DSG for durability. Just use a ZF instead.

What about VW's DSG? Are they any good? I'm thinking of getting the new Golf R with DSG.

They aren't that great, expect around a 100-130k lifespan out of them and change the fluid every 30k

It's too bad the VW/Audi DSGs didn't have better reliability. They were probably the best DSG's ever done for refinement, efficiency, and shift-quality. Service-Technicians didn't like them, though, because they were so complex and difficult to work on.

Yeah, they worked well but just didn't last and like you said the techs really have to know how they work. In some ways they are more simple than a normal automatic but you have to understand how they function and not assume.

Still even with their issues they are far better than the ford attempt at one or any CVT, problem is/was that the ZF8 is so good at shifting speed and overall efficiency plus smother takeoff/manners it just displaced them.

Hyundai has so many issues with the powertrains and recalls. They have a very long way to go still. Their dual clutch options were a total waste of their time .

^^^^No offense, Bit, but, compared to the the huge number of posts that you, me, Henry, and Steve have had in CL over the years, IMO it’s hard to call Jill’s number excessive, even if there are over a hundred of them in just one thread.

I'm going to assume you didn't take that shot, Steve. I suspect it is a doctored image...but, if so, the person who doctored it was quite well-skilled.

I have to say that I like many of the Hyundai/Genesis/Kia products, myself almost buying a Stinger, had the dealer been able to secure me one. With that said, these recalls do concern me and I'm not sure that I would buy one at this point. My neighbor bought a beautiful G80 only to have to park it outside for months waiting for the recall. He still loves it though. Hopefully they get it all sorted out soon.
