Chryslers have a terrible problem with peeling paint at the leading edges of their hoods. Literally every one I have had developed that problem. Had it repaired on the 2017 Pacifica but it came back. Nothing on the 2023 yet but I’m sure it will happen.

That leading-edge-hood problem was not confined to Chrysler products. Some recent Fords have also had it.

On Chryslers it’s only on aluminum hoods, is it the same way with Ford?

I'm not sure HOW they are screwing that up.....I have two cars that are entirely aluminum, my friend has one, and so does my other friend. NONE of our cars have any paint issues and one of them is over 20 years old. I think my 15 and 17 Ram1500s have aluminum hoods as well but they didn't live long enough for me to see if the paint failed lol! The 15 was rear ended sitting at a red light by a guy going 60, the 17 was a $#!%box that I dumped during covid.

water may enter the starter solenoid and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while the vehicle is parked or driving.

A starter that starts fires? What will they think of next? Are the engineers at H/K all pyromaniacs?

Hyundai just lacks the quality of the Japanese automaker and they just don't do reliable well. I guess that is why they have such a long warranty.

Never thought of it that way.

I would be completely unconcerned about reliability buying a Hyundai/Genesis product. It would be one thing if Toyota/Lexus' product was compelling, but it’s not and I am through driving cars that are dramatically behind the times just to have "reliability". I was in a high spec Highlander Uber today and seriously you couldn’t give me one over a Palisade or Telluride. So cheap and crappy inside.

So far my forays into some of the "least reliable carmakers" have turned out great

Past the warranty period is pushing your luck.

Didn't you have a 4Gen ES300/330 long past the warranty date? You and I have talked quite a bit about that particular-generation ES.

You have much less to worry about then. Lol

I wouldn't care either if I always traded before warranty runs out.

Some people are getting over 100k miles with their Hyundai's tho.

Only because I couldn’t afford to replace it at the time.
