Study: Cars and brands with highest/lowest depreciation
Cars That Hold Their Value Best
A study from iSeeCars, based on 8.2 million vehicles that are five years old. Unsurprisingly, the ones that hold their value the best are BOF trucks and SUV's, while the ones that lose the most value are luxury cars. The site has a lot more specific data that are segment specific, so please take a look. I'm only posting the most important bits:Surprisingly, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis/Equus/Kia K900 didn't make this list. The Koreans hold value better than the Germans.
And one for the Tesla fans:

Wow...a lot of body on frame vehicles for the lowest depreciation.
No surprise all of the lowest is luxury cars.
Not at all surprise Toyota is the lowest depreciating brand....
I see no Hyundai anywhere?
Highest is Buick? really?

Didn’t check the actual website, but I assume these numbers are based on MSRP? If so, they can be “slightly” misleading. “Yuuuge” rebates/discounts can and do skew the numbers. My TourX could have been purchased NEW for 30% off MSRP. Steve just got his S class for ~20%off... There’s no denying, though - the Jeeps and Toyota trucks hold their value like no other.

I guess Lexus did okay given they weren't on the highest depreciating brands like all of the other luxury makers
This is excluding Porsche which is not shocking. They have a cult like following just like Tesla.

What BOF vehicles are you refering to on that list? I see only the Rams....plus maybe Chevy/GMC (with the Silverado/Sierra)
I think that a couple of years from now, you are going to see some very different results.....lowest depreciation is clearly going to be for small crossovers.
You read the list backwards, Jill......Buick is the 10th-highest.

Despite Maserati’s abysmal depreciation, Ghiblis lease exceptionally well. Not unheard of to get one close to $400/month. Camcord or Ghibli for 3 years? Tough call 😜.

I mean, depreciation has to be measured against MSRP, as every dealership has different discounts and incentives and even fees on their listed vehicles. Most of the cars in the top 10 worst depreciating list are leased anyway, so their listed price doesn't really matter.

If they use MSRP, it's misleading and benefits Tesla. Almost every Tesla buyer pays MSRP, while almost every non-Tesla buyer negotiates off of MSRP. If you were able to use actual sale prices, Tesla's depreciation numbers would be worse in comparison.
