Indeed. And no disrespect to the ES, and I think eAxle will be a great addition to it. But like others, once I am done with my current GS, I'll have to go elsewhere as they will no longer offer the kind of product I am looking for. Though I highly suspect my wife will eventually want to trade in her Highlander for another Lexus CUV/SUV at some point. So we won't be gone completely.

EVs will also greatly increase reliability across manufacturers for powertrains. BMW repairs can be expensive due to their complexity in their powertrains but EV's are much simpler vehicles. When that is equalized across manufacturers, then other aspects of the car will be more important (luxury, service, handling, etc...) so I'm sure many non-Lexus EVs may be appealing to current Lexus owners.

e-TNGA is being released next year, first will be SUV from Toyota.
e-axle will go into hybrids and PHEVs as well.

An e-axle will not make the ES become a RWD-biased car no more than it helped the RAV4 Prime with the same system.

It all comes down to profits....who can make the most affordable, mainstream suite of electric offerings (hybrid, BEV and FCEV) while maintaining profit margins that are on par with their current offerings in the ICE realm....
