Oh I'm sure, you get used to pretty much anything over time. The Mercedes stalk wasn't as simple as the Toyota/Lexus stalk though, and when feeling you had 3 stalks on that side of the steering wheel, the turn signal, the steering wheel control stalk and the cruise stalk.

JLR should provide software to put the e-shifter into park on the cars when a door is opened, but from what I'm told, haven't been in a Land Rover in a few years, they don't do this with their e-shifter for whatever inexplicable reason.
We have no problems with our e-shifters in the Pacifica or e-tron, never had issues in our Odyssey or X5. Even my elderly parents have no issue with the e-shifter in their Pacifica or RDX. People can get used to these, but yes there should be easily programmed safety functions.
Love the Mercedes shifter stalk, as it truly opens up the center console area for additional storage or controls.
