Don’t take it so seriously....I like the LS because it’s interesting and keeps my somewhat interested in the brand. I did like the 460 for it’s time as well...I also like your S class too....I don’t like the exterior of the new 21 S class.
It frustrates me because I really would like to continue to own an LS.

It would fit in fine, just like it would in any longitudinal RWD sedan. But that would give it far better weight distribution like that M850i Gran Coupe, which also has a mid-front engine layout.

flagship definition: the best or most important thing owned or produced by a particular organization.
Definitely Not the LS of the last decade

The last decade of the LS has been a drag on the reputation of the brand

Too bad Musk doesn't seem interested in the ultra lux catagory
& too bad Genesis isn't extending into the catagory (air suspension, night vision, state of the art driver assist)


its about profitability, not gambling on another loser

I know I am more interested in crash protection than most, but the last thing I want on the inside of the door is a piece of glass

The Land Cruiser is not being cancelled, just only being sold here as the Lexus LX. Continuing to be sold overseas as both.

I would buy the LS460 simply for that smooth as silk V8 which is gone forever. I know the 3.5L is a great engine having an IS350 and the Twin turbos give it a ton of low end torque, but I'm just not a fan of turbocharged engines. Not saying I wouldn't buy an LS500, 100 percent I would, but I have plans in the next 2 years to pickup a low mileage 2016 or 2017 LS460

I really agree, Mike. I bought a 2010 LS460 a little over a year ago and am totally in love with it. What a freakin cruiser.

I've read most of this 160 segment thread and it just makes me sad for Lexus. I have a 2008 LS 460L w/Executive trim..... and I've been in the market for an new LS since '18. The '19 LS 500 was such a downer, I haven't been in an new gen LS since, hoping Lexus would do something about the engine/transmission "integration" and overall ride. A lot of the ride issues are "run flat" tires and transmission shift points, in reading this forum; and have, to some degree at least, been rectified? I need to test drive a '21, I guess? Or just move on to a used MB S560 or something and deal with the arrogance, reliability, and maintenance costs that comes with that decision..... or tolerate less with the new gen LS? The flexing in arm rests.... etc and quality slippage issues are really a bummer, and I though Lexus was better than that!

I've owned a '98 LS 400, '03 LS 430, '17 RX 450h [wife's] and the current LS 460L.... the '98 LS400 is still in use w/one of my kids w/+260K miles, LS430 sold at 160K, and my '08 LS 460L with now 175K miles...... so I've racked up a lot miles in these autos, and spent a fair amount of money w/Lexus/Toyota. V6s will never equal V8s. But I guess we all need to grow and adapt, because if we live long enough [any maybe not even THAT long]....... there will be NO V-8s or V-6's in any domestic or foreign autos sold..... or any IC engines?

All I can give you is my experience with having made that move (my S560 was new) 3 months ago. I haven't experienced any "arrogance", my dealer experiences have been excellent. Almost all the salespeople I dealt with at the many dealers I contacted were great, at least as good as Lexus if not better. My service experiences have also been excellent. I had a couple teething issues that were dealt with and today I was there to have my trunk re-initialized and they did it while I waited, came to check on me in the waiting area multiple times, no charge even though it was caused by my audio installer, just stellar. My time on the W222 (chassis code for this generation S Class) forums have shown me that they are really just as reliable as the LS460, if not moreso. There doesn't seem to be any specific issues that are common like the 460s have the control arms and the brake actuator, I actually havent even seen any W222 air suspension failures (and the oldest ones are old enough now, we are seeing 13+ LS460 air suspension failures). Dealer service is very similar in cost to Lexus and there are independent mechanics available just like with Lexus. My Lexus mechanic is able and willing to service my S560, which I will have him do but the dealer experience is so good I'm tempted to just pay them to do it. Service intervals are the same as Lexus (10k oil changes).

The car is on another level, the ride is just that little bit more polished, and its a very logical upgrade from an LS460. So far, I don't miss Lexus at all.

Steve, happy your enjoying the ride as you are, I knew you would appreciate the German engineering.
the only caveat to It all is about 1 of every 1000 ls460 owners would spend 120,000 dollars on the S560 or spend 1400 per month prior to insurance and gas.
you get what you pay for and your ride is excellent
