I hope this has not already been posted elsewhere (if so I did not see such a thread title). This will undoubtedly never be a cheap proposition but even while being limited to a maximum of 325 examples per year with the requirement of meeting the current model year emissions standards this is really great news for car enthusiasts.

The car in the picture is of a DMC-12 DeLorean but this will apply to literally any type of replica model going forward. The kit car option will still be available for customers as well but this allows for true brand new 100% complete turn-key replica classics to be offered to anyone who wants one built for them.

To name a few turnkey replica kit cars?

1965-1970 Ford Mustang
1967-1969 Chevrolet Camaro
1969-1973 Pontiac Firebird Trams Am
1977-1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
1970-1974 Dodge Challenger
1984-1986 Ford RS200
1948-1965 Porsche 356 Coupe & Cab
1970-1975 Lancia Stratos
1987-1992 Lancia Delta HF Integrale
1985-1987 Buick Grand National
1967-1970 Toyota 2000GT
1970-1977 Toyota Celica Liftback
1964-1966 Shelby Daytona Coupe
1962-?? Shelby AC Cobra
1965-1968 Lola T70
1968-1971 Porsche 917
1984-1987 Ferrari 288 GTO

There are many more dream replicas that people can surely think of.

There are so many 1930’s, 1940’s, and 1950’s and early 1960’s cars that are not necessarily high performance machines but are rather more like rolling works of art.

Whether or not any of these actually get replica versions will come down to availability of the original surviving examples, overall rarity, popularity and market.

Other than 60’s muscle cars and Shelby Cobras I think the trend is toward iconic high performance cars of which only a small handful were made to begin with.
