Default Future Tundra

The Toyota Tundra hasn’t changed much since 2007! I had a 2006 & it was a damn good truck with absolute minimum maintenance issues. My Tundra wasn’t too bad on fuel for the size truck that it was. I could easily get 19 mpg highway, with an occasional 21 mpg if there was no wind.

The latest press release claims the future Tundra will not have a V-8, but instead a twin turbo V-6. I’ve driven a couple of Ecoboosts & they have plenty of power. I wasn’t impressed with their mpg & thus didn’t buy one. All things considered, I would welcome 18-20 mpg over the dismal 13-15 mpg currently. I just can’t get past the ugly! Dear God this new rendering is awful! Toyota must have turned loose their dimmest bulbs on this new truck. The interior is not on par with GM, Ford or Ram. The grill must have been beat with an ugly stick. Have a look:

Granted it's just a rendering, but I actually like it.

Did they photoshop that ugly grill on a Nissan?! Lmao.

We have a pretty good idea what the front end will look like via old threads here. I wouldn't say that this is far off at all (the front end).

I also got a serious Nissan Titan vibe from certain parts

Me too, but the Titan looks much better! I really like the look of the new Frontier. All of that black on this Tundra makes it look like some 16 year old plasti-dipped his grill to “look cool”.

It doesn’t cost much to weld a few old farm shovels together & cut vents in them

I've been waiting five-six years for the new Tundra. I'll withhold judgement until I can drive one. Then I'll wait a year or two before buying, until they get the bugs out. Unfortunately, I'm old, and may be dead by then. Hurry up Toyota before all your fans are dead!

That looks like a Nissan Titan with an F-150 front end and a Toyota emblem instead of the Ford logo. It kind of reminds me of the current Honda Ridgeline as well.

I think the current Tundra is very big and tough looking. It has it’s own look from the competition. These renders give off the feeling it will lose it’s powerful look.

Some would say it’s had its ***** snipped by losing the V-8. I’m open to the twin turbo V-6, but they really freak’n need that twin turbo diesel they sell overseas in the Land Cruiser! Toyota is losing me as a fan fast. I’ll probably end up with a Nissan or GMC.

Man, I bet those BMW people are gonna be bummed when they find out that their 6-cylinder turbos will be "truck engines..." haha

Jokingly of course...

BMW people? The Tundra is getting the Toyota 3.5 V-6 with twin turbos, not an in-line 6 turbo.

^^^ Which is why I said "jokingly..." Tone/sarcasm doesn't always come across well in text.

this cracked me up, but you speak the truth. Toyota is slow to change, when the last tundra came out i was young no kids. Now middle aged 3kids and losing hair.
