I dream of a new GX too. As a long time GX owner I have been waiting for years for a new one and that’s the only reason I don’t have one.

I hope these aren't too difficult to get due to a limited run or crazy demand. I want them to sell well, but not so well that I need to pay markup on top of MSRP or flat-out can't get one. I've got a '16 IS350, and I want to order one of these as soon as they become available. Red with black interior with the Mark Levinson audio please lol

I understand that, but most people will either equate it to "F Sport" or "F" anyway, IMO. Maybe something more similar to BMW naming convention would be more intuitive (IS500F or something?). The comparisons to the M3 are going to happen no matter what - on paper, it's HP lends itself more to that than the M340i; yes, I know the B58 is significantly under-rated, but only hardcore car people are going to know that. Until there is an "IS-F," I would guess that the comparisons to the M3 will be more common than vs the M340i - unless pricing it kept at or below the M340i.

Do it right or don't do it at all.

I'm not into looking for every subtle cue in videos or movies, etc, but in this video when he shifts gears in manual mode, you only see M2, M3, and M5.

First time in years Lexus has done something which wasn't safe & expected. The new IS looks stunning in person and that excellent NA V8 was a big surprise. Cant wait to drive this !

Are you saying Lexus didn’t do it right or they did? Or are you saying they should’ve went full “F”?

The same nonsense since 2018 and the only thing to come to fruition is a single car using the same mechanical components in the GS-F and RC-F.

You also seem to have missed the fact that this IS500 will be made only for the North American market, so you can toss the idea of Lexus making a TTV8 aside when there's literally not a single other market in the world that it would be sold in.
I don’t see what the big issue is that you are making this out to be.

definitely the same engine when one was 416 hp and now is 472
I know it's not the same exact motor obviously but I guess many thought Toyota/Lexus would have developed an entirely new V8 at some point.

I agree with you on the GSF prices, I've been keeping an eye on them and they don't move much. With the GS itself being done that may be a factor on the steady prices but this new IS500 could impact it, all speculation and I'm no expert on what will happen.

I think Lexus read these forums and decided to give the people exactly what they wanted. Put its best V8 in a sporty sedan and priced it at some reasonable level.
I hope they will sell a lot more of these than the previous F models.

What’s even more interesting is the ISF pricing. A good friend of mine picked up a low mileage 2008 and paid around $30k for a 12 year old car. Since this isn’t a full “F” model I don’t see this depressing those values as people still think those old ISF’s as special. Same could be said of the GSF, it’s special.

As someone who is dumb enough to have owned 3 different BMW Turbo Inline 6's (N54, N55, B58) trust me, you don't want one anywhere near your IS. It'd be fast, and it'd also be broken all the time.

I meant that they should have gone full F or nothing. This is awful news for enthusiasts.
