Thank you, that is very kind and I truly appreciate it.

I'm also wondering if Lexus deliberately kept mum about the V8 to surprise the enthusiasts.

Lexus seemed to nail the chassis, nobody is going to care that the V8 is an old motor and isn't as fast as an AMG or M especially once they drive it.

I think they will sell every one of these they make and this would be a great car to park in the garage and drive minimally (or, do whatever) for the next 20 years because it has all the 2020 tech but an old fashioned NA V8. So glorious. These will hold value like it's insane.

I'm considering it. The negatives still outweigh the positives for me, but the thought of a new NA V8 vehicle at this price point is attractive.

I really, really like this.

If they can keep it around $65k, I think it will be a hit.

I just dont see how putting the same engine in the IS500 thats in the RCF and even the trademark F tailpipes, but its not an F makes any sense for Lexus' brand program...

It doesn't unless they will reconfigure the entire lineup once the RC gets another update.

Maybe along the lines of what Caddy has done with the V cars.

But to me, it just seems like they had a bunch of extra V8's that they had to place somewhere. May as well put it back into the IS. Lol.But I'm not mad at that. This engine should have always been in the IS and never the GS.

They are copying BMW M and AMG.

3 Tiers
1) Fsport - styling and some suspension tuning etc
2) Fsport Performance (IS500) - Fsport plus powertrain upgrade. Competes with M340i, S4, C43
3) F Model - All the bells and whistles a la M3, M4, C63

I think this will be the first of several new Fsport Performance models to be introduced.

Also from a numbers standpoint this OLD V8 measures up quite well against M340i but not so well against M3. Therefore i think Lexus actually are doing the smart thing especially if they price it right.

So far looking at other forums and social media - I would say 90% feedback is all positive and huge buzz for Lexus.

Engine is great but it should be mated to the new 10speed instead of the old 8speed trans. That combo works amazingly well in the LC.

A 7M-GTE would be ancient. Not a 2UR-GSE for crying out loud.

The issue is this model being an F Sport Performance with the same engine and nearly every attribute of the F Model cars devalues the whole concept of an F Model car.

If they would take the tact that you are describing and commit to developing more F Models that are on another level from this I would agree, but I just don't see them doing that.

It isn’t what you pointed out about hp because they are almost identical even though manufacturers ratings are way different.
Turbos powerband vs a NA that makes peak near the end of the RPM band vs gearing is a big player, just like a old W220 S500 can beat a brand new accord once you are past 100

It is ballsy because they didn’t need to do it and could just introduced IS Fsport hybrid instead.
Don't get Chevy involved in this conversation unless you want to deal with the reality their cars and engines are simply superior performance wise to nearly anyone else and certainly anything under $400,000

it’s a moot point, 0-150 is nearly identical in both cars in question, it’s from 150-155mph where the GSF beats the M340, the M340 looks to run out of steam past 150mph.
