That's why they have resisted turbocharging popular cars like the Corolla, Camry etc and have stayed with bigger displacement engines
The current generation Toyota Corolla does have a turbo. So did the generation before it. And the generation before that I had a turbo diesel. So does the Lexus RX, that has a turbo as well. You just don’t see them in North America. I have no idea what the psi are of them. I agree that it does it cost, but you employed you stared it eats into reliably which is not necessarily true.

I'm talking strictly North America, I don't know much about other countries, which have different laws/requirements. European cars are generally less reliable, so I'm assuming reliability is not a big deal in other countries such as those in Europe, thus more turbo charging

What difference does it make where the Toyota engine comes from. If you design it to be reliable, it will be reliable. If you design it to be unreliable, then it will be unreliable. My point was, Toyota has been making turbo charged engine for more than 40+ years. I am sure they know what they were doing when they designed these engines and they could easily apply them to their North American motors.

Anyways, back to that big V-8 in this Lexus. I am glad they are doing this. I just think that some criticism is warranted with the engine of choice that they used.

All I will say is this, Honda which has always been one of the top when it comes to engine reliability has suffered major reliability issues since moving to their Earth Dreams platform. And they know how to build engines. That's all I'm going to say on the issue

This is what is enticing me... the sound of the good 'ol V8. If I give in to speed then I will be going with the CT4 Blackwing. I have decided against the CT5 Blackwing, it's just too much power. As they say, spinnin ain't winnin lol. The only worrisome part is my old Pontiac G8 and my C7 both had a weak AC. Both of those cars couldn't actually cool the car on a hot day if it sat outside. When I get in the car after work to go home the cars never reached a comfortable temperature. I don't want another GM vehicle that isn't great to drive for 3 months while it's 110+ degrees here. The only way I will know for certain is to test drive one, but I'm guessing the IS/CT4/CT5 will all be ordered without a test drive given the availability of cars these days.

On the other hand, all 3 of my Lexus vehicles will have icicles coming from your nose within a few minutes Plus the ventilated seats in my ES and RX actually make the seat feel cool. If the IS is the same way then it will be a great daily driver that lets you have some fun too.

Not sure how we slid off onto honda/acura/tlx... and yes i know i commented (didn't take the thread topic into account), but let's stay on the IS500.

i moved recent tlx only posts to the tlx thread.

We should all rejoice that Lexus has launched this car. They bucked all the trends to deliver a great sounding and performing unicorn.

Lol, *literally* the first 5 seconds of this video will sell the car to people without them even driving it.

55k base is about exactly what most of us predicted.
