Right now I don't think any automaker is offering good lease deals due to the shortage. A few weeks back I took my wife's 2020 Ionic for it's 10K service, while I was waiting I met up with the sales guy who sold us the lease to see if I could test drive a Veloster N. We got the lease in November 2020 for $3000 down (the state gave us back $2000) and $190 a month. He told me the same lease is now $300 a month

Well, no but the idea that Lexus hasn't historically had good lease deals on the LS as an explanation of its slow sales isn't the case. The lease deals on the LS aren't incredible, but theyre right in line with its competitors.

Another example: All Lexus IS's are now leasing for $100/mo more than they were twelve months ago.

Thanks to Carmaker for clarifying this:

"Interestingly, the reason the IS 500 F Sport Perf. was approved in 2019, was because the Lexus exclusive "New N" platform (4GS launched it, used by IS & RC), cannot be configured with the bi-turbo V6 V35A-FTS engine. So IS 500, used the 2UR-GSE V8 instead and since it has its competitive limitations with lower torque (than TT I6s or C63 V8), it could not be justified as another IS-F and competitor to M3 and C63 (V8). They didn't want a repeat of the GS-F against TTV8 competition."

That's why I wouldn't buy or lease right now until the chip shortage has been resolved. I just got back from SoCal and we were walking on the beach in Costa Mesa and you can see all the backed up container ships for miles waiting to get into Long Beach harbor. Imagine all the other goods just sitting out at sea for weeks

I agree, I would just wait it out and see if things change. If they don’t and I have to pay more in the future so be it but I still have about 10 months left on my car lease. I could always go Tesla and pay sticker.

the IS500 will definitely be a blast to drive and very comfortable when one just wants to get somewhere calmly.
I could never get more than 23 highway on my IS350 RWD when i had a 90/10 Highway commute. Usually it was around 19 w/ mixed 50/50. I can't imagine the V8 being better than that

Really? On my 2010 IS350 Sport I've gotten as much as 28 mpg on trips to SoCal doing a steady 80 mph

i think the 10 speed helps my LC a LOT. interestingly when you switch to sport or sport+ it only uses the first 8 gears.

Mine only has 6 gears, and they are shorter gearing. It does occasionally skip gears in normal mode to help make it be a little more economical, but economy is not what this car is about. That said, long hwy trips I've achieved 28 mpg. Normal everyday driving I average 19 to 21 mpg. For my car, 10 gears would be way too much, as my engine is happiest above 3500 rpm so there would be way too much gear hunting

I owned the '06 IS350 and currently own the '08 IS F (traded the 350 for it in ''08). They get pretty close to the same mileage. The IS F routinely gets 26 -28 mpg on steady state highway cruise. This chart is from my IS350 driving from Sacramento to Atlanta in 2007.

This was right after filling up but before moving on a typical highway run in my IS F:
