Lexus IS500 F SPORT Performance
#1096
This some quick chop of an ad. Probably some Kia intern designer has ran through photographs and decided on triangle motive. That body copy runs like mess across a triangle taillight that was the whole purpose of the ad from graphical concept. Lexus IS500 ad on the other hand probably came from their InDesign template back from 2005 together with past trend bold horizontal lines and text flow. Color choice on the photo for a performance model is completely wrong. I get they gave up on the blue cause F is dead but this is the birth of a F Performance badge. I guess it's either one off and we will never hear about F Performance again or someone at the print design team has botched this one big time. That photo comp might as well say IS200t instead of IS500 and no one would bat an eye.

I used to cruised to the coast at 65 mph in my C7 and get 32-34 mpg routinely. Even with the mountains. My best was 38 mpg for a 50 mile stretch. I'm hoping the IS 500 will get me high 20s at least. The C7 did cut down to 4 cylinders though.

23 highway?? Were you going 95 mph? Lol

This "refuel" was for the second half of our trip back home.
TBH it seems like gas mileage would be a wash between the 350 RWD and the 500. The AWD car is probably worse based on my experience with my IS 300 AWD. I had a hard time keeping the average mileage above 19 in mixed driving. I believe the best it ever did was 28 MPG going down to Galveston, Texas from Kansas City. Lots of straight highways, and I wasn't actually trying to be efficient.

That's why I wouldn't buy or lease right now until the chip shortage has been resolved. I just got back from SoCal and we were walking on the beach in Costa Mesa and you can see all the backed up container ships for miles waiting to get into Long Beach harbor. Imagine all the other goods just sitting out at sea for weeks

My average was 18mpg mixed. The car simply wasn't that efficient in stop and go traffic though. Highway cruise was good...about 28mpg but city was terrible. I may have revved it out too much...the car felt pretty weak under 3k rpm.

I'm about 19 to 21 mixed driving. She's definitely happier above 3K RPM. My 2013 Sienna gets way better mileage. When I bought it, I knew what I was getting into, economy was not on the checklist

Its one of those cars where you have to try to go fast to actually go fast. Some cars are fast without even trying. Sport mode of course helped a lot as it kept the revs high but my gas mileage would then plummet

Not really. It still has a lot of torque at the lower end. From a dig I've beaten an Infiniti G35 (Manual trans) and G37, a WRX, GTI, Accord V6 and Accord 2.0T and a Veloster N. I've also annihilated a Camry TRD. Not the fastest car, but 0 to 60 in 5 seconds is not bad

When I bought my IS new in 2008 it would be between 17-20mpg city/mix and highway about 22-25mpg. EPA sticker said 18 city 25 hwy. At 165K I tend to baby it now my city/mix is 20-24mpg and hwy is 27-31mpg. It can be frugal, but it can also consume quickly if you step on it for awhile. Of course variables like quality of fuel, winter/summer, commute can all be factors.

Spouse's car, not mine. Always drove the IS350 slow. LX is technically spouse's too but psshhh.
Once that 3.5 gets to about 4k GTF out of the way, lol. That thing was a rocket. That gen did 0-60 in 4.9 seconds.
I don't care one bit about gas mileage, but it did seem on the low side for that IS350.
