You've beaten those cars because you are flooring it. If you drive without revving it out, under 3k, it doesn't have a ton of torque and kinda just moves along. The same isn't true for something like a M340 where the meaty torque curve gets you going quick even at low rpms...don't have to try and drive fast as its fast all the time was my point. Some people like that about the NA cars and linear power curves but the IS350 wasn't really linear...it would hit hard past 4k but be kinda too mellow under 3k. Just my observations after 60k miles driving it.

I believe the 340m has a turbo, it's the reason of this "impression of fast".
It's done on purpose. The downside of this is the mechanical complexity. Add to that, that LOTS of peoples don't know how to treat a turbo correctly, this has the consequence of a fast wearout of the part, that is costly to change.
Honestly, this "engine beeing a little mellow under 4000", is typical of a car that will be good for snow and rain applications. Beeing in the mountain, I have experienced turbo engines, and when the road is full of snow, they are best when the turbo is off (unless you have some 4x4 rally monster). I now prefere NA engines, because they are much more manageable on snow and offer reliable power over time (the 2JZ GE I drive daily is from 2002, still running perfectly on specs).
With prices of metals rising, and the value of money tanking, we will also be well advise to consider maintenance becoming much more expensive in the coming years.

23 highway?? Were you going 95 mph? Lol
I used to cruised to the coast at 65 mph in my C7 and get 32-34 mpg routinely. Even with the mountains. My best was 38 mpg for a 50 mile stretch. I'm hoping the IS 500 will get me high 20s at least. The C7 did cut down to 4 cylinders though.

That's why I wouldn't buy or lease right now until the chip shortage has been resolved. I just got back from SoCal and we were walking on the beach in Costa Mesa and you can see all the backed up container ships for miles waiting to get into Long Beach harbor. Imagine all the other goods just sitting out at sea for weeks

Yep, you can see them backed up from Newport. We went to see the sunset from the beach (my niece lives about two miles away) and you can see the container ships lined up for miles. The cargo from these ships is destined for all over the US

Both, but mainly staff. After COVID hit and stuff shut down, experienced workers moved on to other jobs. This is a market right now favorable to employees and not companies. It took me 3 months to find and hire for an IT Help desk position. Normally I would have gotten 100 resumes a day, I was literally getting less than 10 a week, and had to finally go to recruiter

You should see IKEA, it's almost empty. My daughter just moved to a new place close to the university she's attending and they didn't have much stuff left. We had to go to Walmart, which is also getting depleted
