Congrats. I love the color combo - Daytona Gray is one of the better Audi paint color IMO.

Tune when?

Nice color combo 👍👍

Are the exhaust outlets real now? They used fake ones before I believe on S4 and even on then new SQ5.

Congrats! I knew you were going to get it, it was just a matter of when which is why when you were in the fence I said just go test drive the thing.

Congrats! Welcome to the Audi family lol. Looks stunning. I've always liked the sleeper look of the S4, especially with Nardo grey, but that red interior really pops! Very few companies make interiors like Audi. Enjoy thoroughly.

I'm sure you are going to enjoy it, despite any ribbing you've taken from other posters here.

Since it's a performance-car, I know you're probably eager to punch it once or twice. Some people may tell you there's no need for a formal break-in any more.....I disagree. The engineers still put the requirement in the Owners' Manual, usually for around 500 miles now instead of the former 1000. Take it easy on both engine and brakes for that initial period, then you can drive it with a little more gusto if you want.
thanks, mike! i wholeheartedly agree with you. the salesman who i had been corresponding with online for like the past week and a half was trying and trying to get me to launch the vehicle hard and i was like no way in hell am i doing that to a car that i'm about to buy. i can't emphasize enough how much i follow and take seriously the break-in period.

Does the B9 have the same "secret" launch control the B8.5 had? Turning off traction control completely, putting it in dynamic, then will let you rev to 4000 rpm. Just curious.

haha - i think it's punchy enough to not tune. i know it's against my tuning nature, but the v6 is damn silky smooth and it's just powerful enough that even at half-throttle i know it's fully sufficient. you have no ideaaaaa how much i scrutinized this car today, like from every angle and on a loooonnggg test drive. i really made sure that i wanted this machine and i'm exhausted, but i'm happy with my purchase!

i'm having it clearbra-ed next week!

i know, i could have put myself in misery by not just getting what i wanted -- remained in bmw purgatory for a while, but thankfully i didn't because there is a total sense of relief that this is done and i can look behind me!

thanks, steve! i waited today JUST to see what the new c-class would look like and it's no doubt a handsome sedan, but the entire thing being controlled by the giant tablet in the center, while well-executed, just didn't do it for me. i want the tech in the car, but i want it to not be so ostentatious. the tech is actually pretty amazing in this vehicle with google earth being able to be seen in the central gauge cluster as well as infotainment screen! super cool!

thank you! i do agree that audi makes some of the most stunningly luxurious interiors for the price point of any manufacturer out there - totally feels like i'm in a baby s8. mercedes also does this well with the c-class and e-class, i have to admit.

it does and the saleman wanted me to use it on the test drive!!! and i was like hellllll no, i'm gonna purchase this car potentially. do you have a car that i can abuse to test it in? to which he shut up. it'll be fun once the piston rings have seated properly, but i'm taking all precautions and advice re: the break-in period.

Lol yeah I can understand that. Looks like it's an AMAX launch control like in a lot of the other cars, not entirely the same as the launch in the S-tronic dual clutch gearboxes but achieves the same thing haha. On a side note, I wish Audi kept the supercharged v6 w/the DSG in the S4/S5. Wonder why they switched, aside from maybe fuel economy. Anyways, glad you like the car. That interior sure does look like it could be the baby S8 lol as you said.

Funny I was test driving a new X7 M50i and the first thing I did was launch the crap out of it, twice. I had to see how it pulled if I am going to get one. Salesman had no issues and didn’t even know it had launch control.

As for the interior of your car, I always thought it was best in class with the seat stitching, the gauge cluster and the carbon fiber trim. Good luck with it.

So i was catching up on this thread before i got to the part where you bought it (congrats!), and as i was reading your agonizing over whether it was fast enough, or too plain, etc., and how the x2 didn't do it for you any more, and i was thinking, hang on, this is the guy who posted about that x2, less than SIX MONTHS AGO, and you were gushing about it, and how it was the fastest car you'd ever driven. Here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/car...w-x2-m35i.html

And you got that car by selling your previous 2020 x2 and your 2018 lexus is300 AND your acura ilx - dealers must absolutely LOVE you!

But then over a week ago, i did post this:

Actually, davyjordi also posted the "cars won't make you happy" thread.

But all that kidding aside, CONGRATS, and i hope you keep it more than 6 months.

thanks! but wait just one second! i'm not going to justify my purchase for anyone but let me correct something: the acura was a car that i inherited. we never bought that car. that car was given to me. i'd never buy that car. so it was just the lexus and then the bmw and now the audi. the acura was supposed to be traded in at one point and then they didn't want to give me what i felt was an okay price, so i kept it, and then wound up trading it in on the bmw so that i wound up paying significantly less on the car and then gaining a few thousand bucks of equity on the s4 via that stupid ilx on the x2 trade-in. the x2 was the fastest car that i had driven and the s4 is quicker. the x2 isn't refined, though, in any single way. the engine is course, the driving experience is course and while it's a little go-kart, in my old man mid-30s i want something that's fast but a smooth operator. i could see the x2 being super fun forever if i were in my early 20s but it gets old really fast feeling every imperfection on the road and hearing the i4 try to squeeze every bit of power out of itself. if i'm going to pay for a luxury car, i might as well be paying for a luxury experience to go along with the performance.

as for the cars won't make you happy, they won't. that was a philosophical posting more of a literal one - materialism vs. the intangible and the ethereal.

thanks! the interior is super beautiful and the tech is amazing!

and that's gutsy. i wouldn't launch a car that has an engine that hasn't been broken in that i was seriously considering buying. three-fourths throttle at most. i probably was at three-fourths for a moment or two while on my super extensive test drive. i even drove past my own house - the test drive was easily 30-35 minutes or even a bit longer because i REAALLY wanted to make sure that this car was going to be comfortable, offer the performance i wanted, and lived up to its baby s8 status and it proved to do all of those things really well!
