It wasn't his, it was a loaner from the tournament that had just ended.

Surprised you didn't bring up that it could have caught fire too.

And you wrote "rough start for the brand", first of all it's not the start, and second, this could become a huge win for genesis if tiger endorses it as having saved his life.

About the crash, i'm thinking distracted driving (phone), fell asleep, or impaired (DUI/DWI).

i believe the accident happened at 7a.m. right? Wonder where he'd been and where he was going at that hour.

Yes let’s not turn this into a genesis thing. He could be driving a Lexus RX for all intent and purposes with the same outcome.

The amount of damage and distance the car landed away from the roadway (far away up the hill), he was going way too fast. Last report I heard he was late to a tournament about 45 minutes away. Maybe a lesson can be learned here, but it seems Mr. Woods has a bad track record with making bad decisions and getting behind the wheel. Wouldn't be that big of a deal, but many youth look up to him... that's the part that bothers me.

Reports said he was "lucid" and did not seem impaired, but not sure if they did a toxicology test on him or not. I assume they would...? He was on his way to a golf course - not sure which - for the second day of filming/shooting for Golf Digest/GOLFTV with some other celebs (David Spade, D-Wade, and Jada Pinkett Smith).

Maybe not. Richard Hammond's Rimac accident was very similar to Tiger's and literally put the brand on the map.

Really hate that for him. Hopefully not the end of his golf career.

From this Twitter Account.

Also, the GV80 has a pretty large driver side knee airbag (but no passenger side knee airbag), and an airbag between the front passengers (which have been deployed as you can see from the photo above). GV80 has not been crash tested by the authorities yet.

But does he live in Cali? It may be as simple as driving a little too fast on a twisty road he's unfamiliar with. Nothing wrong with being up early and motivated to start your day.

Reports state that he was on the way to give lessons to Drew Brees.

Yeah, he has been doing a show where he gives celebs and athletes golf lessons. Sound like he might have been running late and going too fast. Dude is worth $800 million. Get a driver.

I'm not sure I follow your line of thinking. So he takes some of that $800M and hires a chauffeur. What's the difference if he himself is driving too fast or if his chauffeur is, trying to make up for lost time? Still just as hazardous either way. The laws of physics don't care who is behind the wheel.

The difference is that the Genesis SUV is not an exotic supercar. He got seriously injured in this new Genesis SUV in a single vehicle accident on a public motorway. It’s just a stretch to say that this can be spun into a win for the brand.
