I loved my V6 in my RX300, but that is outdated. a 2.4L turbo can be better on weight and power than an an NA V6, plus easier to work on. Do like the new NX design.

If I remember correctly even the current 2.0T does it sub 7 secs C&D tested it at 6.8 ; this new 2.5 t with significantly more power & torque will likely be faster. Anyhow doesn’t really matter to the average consumer they will look at new enormous infotainment screen, slick looks with Lexus reliability and its job done!

The official time for the outgoing NX with the 2.0T and AWD was exactly 7 seconds. C&D got 6.9. Like I said, Toyota rarely underestimates like the Germans.

The 450h+ is clearly the one to go for for anyone who cares remotely for performance. That's the powertrain that competes with the German 4 cylinder turbos.

64 ambient lighting colors just like the germans? funny how it is exactly 64.

Also, interface while an improvement looks very plain and simple, very android like.

I'm confused by the thread title. What does OP mean that the NX is the first Hybrid plug-in? It's not.

It's called inflation.

Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus continue to use their 3.5L V6's in a number of applications. Certainly great engines and no real need for them to switch to turbo 4's except to consolidate production. Aside, just looked at Tacoma specs with V6 - it only has similar hp and torque to this new NX 2.4T. they don't "need a good v6" any longer.

The 2.4T is based off of the old 2.0T, which is quite disappointing to me. The 2.0t was a turd, slow, noisy and unrefined and now its just a bigger piece of turd. I was hoping it's a clean sheet design.

When was the last time Lexus did a clean sheet design? I'd say never except for the original models.

no, it is not... it is all new engine - T24A-FTS, successor of 8AR-FTS previously used.

Yes, most models aren't all new (UX, NX, GX, RX, LX, IS, RC) but...
the LC500 was launched in the 2018 model year.
the LS500 was also launched in the 2018 model year.
the latest ES was all new and launched in the 2019 model year.

I think he probably was talking about design compared to previous gen... otherwise when it comes to platforms, etc, UX, NX, LS, ES, LC were all-new platforms in past 3 years now, and all came with new engines/etc.

With NX, it is very successful vehicle, they wont change it too much even if it is all-new. They did focus on pain points - so not only new powertrains, but also a lot more trunk space and more back space as well, more usability. Pretty much almost every negative point of old gen was addressed.

Overall great update by Lexus. This NX model will sell like crazy.

Personally I like the new clean styling- even the grill is looking more uniform. Interior design and new tech is great as well.

If only Lexus made it a true luxury car with RWD based platform - it would be hard to beat.

Lots of competition in this class now with X3, GV70, GLC, RDX etc.
