You say the 1998 GS400 was faster than the mid-sized BMW M5 or Mercedes E63 of the period? I wouldn't bet on that one.

both of those was released months after...when the gs400 was first available, it had the claim of the fastest midsized luxury sedan.

off topic but the GS400 was not a direct competitor to a M5 (and not sure if an E63 was even a thing that long ago - maybe E55?). it was a competitor to the bmw 540i and maybe an E400 or something back then.

back to the NX...

If you want economy, get the 350h that gets much better fuel economy and comparable "performance" to the 350 for $500 less.

If you want "performance" and economy, get the 450h+ for 350h money after subsidies.

I would avoid the 250 and 350 at this point unless you hate hybrids or something.

It is quicker than current model, much better looking inside & out, infotainment/safety tech is probably one of the best in the segment. Basically they have focused on updates that majority buyers in this segment look for. Lexus rarely focuses on 0 to 60 timings its just not they way they function.

highly doubt infotainment is the best in the industry at most on par but I would safely bet it's worse. What safety tech does it have that the competition doesn't have?

Imo the competition has every thing the NX has and more. Only thing is reliability.. specifically referring to the nx350

You are probably right about competition. The point I was trying to make was the if the old NX (with all it’s shortfalls) was a such sales success this one definitely is going to sell even better.

450h+ will be extremely supply-constrained and dealer marked up by $10K+ like the RAV4 Prime it's based on. So the "highest-performing" available NX will be the 350 turbo, and it's not much of a performer.

I 100% agree. Lexus did enough to continue make it a sales success. I mainly think the drivetrain is a disappointment though because of the bad fuel economy and relatively sluggish performance.

This is a middle pack infotainment. Not close to Genesis, BMW or Tesla.

This new NX will be the segment leader in sales. Very hard to beat the overall package. It’s nailing the reviews as well. Lexus got the infotainment system down as well.

The 450h+ is the performance model to get. But the 250 is there for those who want something cheaper and the 350 has enough performance.

Genesis, BMW, and Mercedes are about to release new infotainment systems as well. Lexus finally updated its infotainment to the current generation of cars just as the current generation moves onto the next generation. This really should have came out years ago instead of that stupid mousepad with the ten-year-old OS.

Been watching the review videos, I think Lexus has done a great job on this. Way more appealing than the outgoing model.

But do you think that's enough to take the slice of the sales pie from X3 and Q5? I'm still undecided. On the other hand I belive GV70 is the best in the class right now but that will not affect it's sales due to poor network.

These two designs look awful

I think it’s more Toyota than it is Lexus. But they have done a superb job.

X3 and Q5 don’t matter to the NX. Different segment. But NX is the better package
