Plus, using the NX450h badge for the 2.5L plug-in just ruined what the 450h stood for in the RX and GS, a proper 3.5L v6 hybrid. Really a NX350h? Why not call it an NX300h which has been used for 2.5L hybrids in both the ES and the NX.
Lexus needs to follow their own naming standards and not make new stuff up.
They aren't calling it an NX300h because an NX300h has 194 horsepower and a leisurely 9.1 second 0-60 acceleration. The Rav4 Prime powertrain, assuming that's what is in the NX450h, has over 300 horsepower, and takes that PHEV from 0-60 in about 5.7 seconds.
I believe the 450h doesn't mean a "a proper 3.5L v6 hybrid", it means a vehicle that similar power to a conventional 4.5 liter naturally aspirated engine, i.e., 302 in the Rav4 Prime and 308 in the RX450h.
It looks much better than the first gen NX in my opinion both interior and exterior. Touchscreen looks huge! I'm getting a bit of an Infiniti QX50 vibe from the overall design:
BIG sales hit for Toyota here. Well packaged. It will well priced. I really like this exterior...some elements of the interior I am not over the moon about....won't be best in segment, but doesn't have to.
If outgoing NX hooked up with a Mazda CX-5 I feel like this is what you'd get. Looks good, fairly restrained styling for a Lexus. No haphazard creasing and folds like the 1st gen has. A little more fluid design.

42 miles of electric range which for us will be 80% of our driving then 40 mpg after. $7,500 tax credit.
What's that supposed to mean? Please define the term "Baby-Boomer" CUV. I happen to be in that age-group myself. These vehicles also sell quite well to younger people.

I have a problem with them calling it a nx350h as the Es300h has the same engine. There is nothing 50 that is additional. In Japan the Es300h can be had in 4wd and they don’t call it an es350h.

Folks in that age bracket are attracted to that style of vehicle for myriad reasons including ease of ingress and egress.
