Well, why play that game, might as well call it NX2000, there 1650 more than the Mercedes.

As for the renaming of the NX300h to NX350h, we'll have to see whether the change in nomenclature is also do to a larger motor generator/battery, or if it's simply a marketing decision.
They should have just called it NX300h Prime. Just like a RAV4 Prime.

No one knows that a +150 in the number means plug-in.

Been waiting and dying to see this. Not sure why they opted to redesign and then carry over the previous generation mirrors instead of using the new style already on the ES, LS and IS. Toyota/Lexus always seems to roll out the new mirror styles in stages

WHere did I say they copied Tesla? Smh. Minimalist interior design, a design trend that Tesla popularized. There are other interpretations of minimalism without directly copying what Tesla has done. This in my opinion is Toyotas version of a minimalist interior. Mercedes has there interpretation as seen in the new sedans. Two oversized screens, a couple tuning ***** maybe, and a sea of flat plastic. They are following the general minimalist trend, not copying Tesla's interpretation of it. They are all simple, basic interiors by design.

The disingenuous marketing decision to decouple engine displacement from model number is pathetic and amounts to eating up any remaining customer goodwill in order to push a few units for short term gain. It’s like Cyrix processors unable to keep up with Intel processor clock speeds. For a 133Mhz processor they’d market it as a “PR166” or something because they gamed some stupid ALU metric to perform better on a specific task than the Intel competition at that speed.

What you are suggesting of downsizing the numbers, I think it would be terrible idea to down size the numbers. The numbers going up make more sense. The engine displacement thing with naming is a bit outdated...IMO

Literally every manufacturer has decoupled the model number from the displacement. Can't blame Lexus for doing the same.

My S560 has a 4 liter V8, for instance.

Bigger numbers don’t mean better. Just becomes nonsensical.

at least displacement has a meaning. Random numbers don’t.

They did.. I don't think younger buyers care for the displacement part or pay attention

It would be so odd if it was now called a S400....I think the new S580 numbers are referencing the past heritage.

With regards to numbers, the change happened over a decade ago when manufacturers introduced small turbo engines to replace larger NA engines. Over the last few decades, customers were conditioned to pay more for a higher trim. For example, IS 350 > IS 250. With smaller engines, that may not be appreciated. Who would pay more for a LS 350TT than a LS 460?

I'm mostly good with the interior, although that little bit of the center console side padding that comes up under the center screen looks off to me. The exterior looks fine, although I wish they'd retained something similar to the rear wheel bulge on the current model; that was one of the few things that visually distinguished the outgoing NX from other small Japanese SUVs. Still....I like it, and if they get the non-hybrid HP up anywhere close to 300 I'm buying.

Bigger numbers DO mean better to consumers. Theres gobs and gobs of evidence supporting that.

I doubt they will get that high in HP.
