I think they will get to about 270hp. Whatever they did at Honda with their new TSX, I think it will be similar power
With regards to numbers, the change happened over a decade ago when manufacturers introduced small turbo engines to replace larger NA engines. Over the last few decades, customers were conditioned to pay more for a higher trim. For example, IS 350 > IS 250. With smaller engines, that may not be appreciated. Who would pay more for a LS 350TT than a LS 460?
Keep the numbering convention true or drop it. I hate it when marketing overrules engineering.
Bigger numbers DO mean better to consumers. Theres gobs and gobs of evidence supporting that.
When it comes to the new NX, people just don't care. It's not a sports car, its not a high end luxury car, its just a RAV4 with Lexus interior and sound proofing. Knowing that it's an NX is sufficient, so my opinion is that the numbers behind the NX should have meaning that is consistent with other Lexus lines. A 350 designation should mean it is equal to the powertrain of a RX350, RC350, GS350, IS350 or a ES350, not a 2.5L that makes 200hp. Lexus trying to make the NX sound more powerful than it is is just nonsense and inconsistent and dilutes the meaning of the number for their other lineups.

we should know by now that Lexus turbo isn’t going to match the number name that’s if the new NX350 is the 2.4 rumored engine. NX 300 is already the 2.0 turbo engine so it makes sense if the 2.4 turbo is the 350. IS 300 RWD is 2.0 turbo, LS 500 is 3.5 TT.

I would completely disagree lol. People are wired to look at the larger number being better and a lot of planning goes into what that number means. They also see the number increasing slightly from the previous generation as a sign of the new model being better.
Most consumers have no idea the NX is related to the Rav 4. In fact most consumers have no idea Lexus is related to Toyota.

well, quite possibly 300hp NX350 will be better than current NX300.

No....that's the problem. The first-generation version doesn't have sound-proofing, at least not what IMO are to Lexus-standards. Nor does it, IMO, have a particularly nice Lexus-grade interior. Perhaps the Second-Generation will be an improvement.....we'll wait and see, especially with the excellent new Venza, which shows what Toyota/Lexus is capable of when they put their minds and resources to it.
