^^ yes the flowing lines is usually just the Designo wood option, which is available in the range as low as the E class.

I didn’t even know that Maybach stopped being a thing and is now a half measure warmed over S Class they call Mercedes-Maybach.

yea the 'original' maybach was like nearly 7000 lbs and was quite bespoke, many of the buttons are recognizable to anyone who's owned a mid 00s mercedes but even little details were just slightly more special on the maybach

and of course exclusively came with twin turbo V12s, as well as the 62 model having a optional electrochromic sunroof that could instantly transition between being opaque and completely transparent at a button push

I was somewhat surprised to learn recently that the 2000s Maybach was built on a heavily modified W140 platform. It speaks to the excellence of the W140 that it would live on in that form for MBs top flagship models.

I was driving the 62 model with the electrochromic sunroof on the Ca freeway when a hawk dropped a rock on the edge of the huge sunroof.
When we got to the clients house the crack had spread another inch.after a few days it had cracked about a foot. I drove it to the MBZ dealer where they told me they would have to replace the whole glass roof for $20,000.

ouch... i'm honestly a bit surprised that's "all" it was to replace the whole glass pane lol, i'm pretty sure it was like an $80,000 option

doug recently reviewed the 62 and he said even with the driver's seat all the way back his knees were still up against the dashboard... granted he's like 6'4" but was that your experience too? you'd think a 28 foot long half million dollar car would be a bit roomier up front but i guess with the partition and the total focus on the rear seat experience there's less concern on making sure the chauffer is comfy lol

do you know if not having the partition increases front legroom? either way i've still yet to see a cooler looking backseat than that of the maybach 62... the toyota century comes close by allowing you to lower a flap in the backrest of the front passenger seat and fully stick your legs through, that beats the maybach for ingenuity but can't touch it for sheer opulence

that was one of it's main criticisms when being compared to it's only real direct competitor the rolls phantom, it's 'just' an old mercedes platform and not as special as the phantom

it also didn't help that despite being more or less entirely bespoke it looked pretty much just like a big S-class whereas the phantom is clearly it's own thing

me having no nationalistic attachment to england, always would've preferred the maybach 57 especially with that twin turbo AMG V12

google says 243" long which is just over 20 feet, not 28 feet, which is more like a short tractor trailer.

It was 12 cylinder very smooth & plenty power, I put about 20,000 miles on it.

You might be surprised at how small RR's & Bentley's are inside!

RWD....all else equal, it lacks the interior space-efficiency of FWD.
