BMW confirms not scrapping ICEs...

Plenty of research shows exactly the opposite, I'm sure you can do some honest research yourself, not just pick selective research that aligns with what you want. And then there are plenty of other nuances, such as reliability of renewable sources. Fact is, consumers pay the most for electricity in places where more electricity is coming from renewable sources.

Lets not take extreme cases where energy delivery is the bulk of the cost. Take a look at Germany and Denmark - they have the highest amount of electricity in EU produced by renewable sources, yet their consumers pay the most. In the US, California generates more electricity from any other state, and California's climate is extremely favorable for renewables, and yet their customers pay some of the highest prices in the US.

Those are examples of bad management and trying to force in tech before it's fully capable of replacing conventional energy.

So what does that have to do with ICE or BEV vehicles? If one is trying (as I suspect) to compare ICE emissions to the way that animal-poop can spread disease if not cleaned up, that so-called comparison itself is a bunch of horse-poop LOL. The average ICE vehicle, today, emits less than one percent of what it did in the late 1960s, before emission controls took effect. The average horse emits the same amount of poop they always have. And, don't forget, that animal-poop is a critical ingredient of crop-fertilizer, which helps farmers keep food on our tables.

If the government wants to force a transition to BEV, they will have to install charging stations on every street about 10ft apart so people can charge anytime and anywhere. They will also haev to build massive supercharging stations along the highway 20 miles apart to alleviate long distance range anxiety. Good luck with doing all that in the next 5 to 10yrs with unions and their unionized worker making that happen.

As with anything - ppl need to follow the money.
This EV upending of how things are done is a HUGE revenue opportunity for politicians and new generation of Billionaires. The old guard of oil companies etc have made their money already.
The new guys see a TRILLION $$$ opportunity and who cares if there is some pain and suffering for general public - we are saving environment while we fly on our private jets and cruise on our personal yachts!
There are good ppl here on CL that really don’t want to see the money grab that will be taking place in next decade as we go through this very costly transition. At the end of the day - owning and operating a car in the future will be more costly as there is no free lunch in this world but many new billionaires will be minted in the process......
