Sounds like it was a successful April Fools, given by how many have fallen hook, line, and sinker for it. Well done Voltswagen.

Man, auto makers are really going all out for the trillions of dollars in the green energy slush fund that is just around the corner.

I don't think Scott literally said it, it was attributed to him in the (now known to be) comic press release. I'm sure he approved the overall project. And it's definitely gotten a lot of people talking about the electrification of VW products, so mission accomplished.

Personally, I'm with Och, AJT123, UDel, and some other CL posters that there is simply too much emphasis on BEVs today, and not enough on keeping ICEs for those who will have recharging-problems/unavailability, but, perhaps that is the subject for another thread, not this one.

This only makes me wish the Mustang Mach-E naming was an April Fools' joke. Alas...!

Meanwhile, also from VW: "Golf GTD is a diesel hot hatch in an EV world"

VW may have just screwed themselves over with the SEC because of this little prank...

I couldn’t find anything that the SEC did to Dine brands did with their similar IHOB / IHOP branding exercise a couple years back.

Worst thing that can happen is that VW gets kicked out of the conference and that will let them go to the ACC or Big 12 where they belong.

VW should just leave US market - all their products are average at best.

They want to go from Dieselgate to now EVs - who are they kidding? That in itself is April fool’s joke.

your opinion noted, but they sell 1/3 million vehicles in the us a year, so someone likes them.

they are also the largest auto maker by volume in the world - they're not about to leave one of the largest car markets.
