Thats not what I said. This is what I said:

VW AG absolutely does have input into how their subsidiaries operate. That doesn't mean they have no autonomy, they have a great deal of autonomy, much more than Lexus does. At the end of the day though, they do report to VW AG.,

Well, that certainly backfired.

Volkswagen investigated by SEC over 'Voltswagen' prank

Uh... hate to break it to you but Dieselgate won't be forgotten for a loooong time.

In fact part of the reason VW is under fire by the SEC is because they already destroyed their credibility in the past with Dieselgate.

No one expects VW to be reliable so no one cares if they're always middling to bottom of CR and JD power lists.

Car buyers don’t care. Most people view Voltswagen as something fun and cute.

Then why do they sell so many vehicles, Dieselgate or no Dieselgate? Though they are not one of the largest names in the U.S., VW, depending on what one uses for a rating, is in a virtual tie with Toyota as the world's largest automaker.

True, Dieselgate was fraud. But this incident is not fraud, as with the diesel-emissions. And the idea that "Voltswagen" raised the stock price is probably nonsense.....IMO, a wild-goose chase.

lol since when was the Atlas or Passat considered "fun and cute."

Customers certainly did care- you can thank Volkswagen for singlehandedly killing diesel's popularity in Europe. And VW never had strong sales in the U.S. to begin with, as others already alluded to earlier in this thread.

The reason VW is pushing electrification so hard is to win back the public (and investor) goodwill after Dieselgate. SEC being on their backs won't help them.

Being investigated by the SEC over stock fraud after outraging thousands of stockholders is "fun and cute"?

Because they have a lot of sub-brands, and make more than just diesel vehicles. But like I said before, you can thank VW for singlehandedly killing the popularity of diesel in Europe.

Car buyers don't determine the value of a public company, the stock market does. See: Tesla.

And guess what the SEC regulates.
