Yes, it's most like the old 8 series.

either way, it's cool and hopefully something like it comes to market.

I don't think it will unfortunately. Genesis pulled the same stunt when they released the Vision G Coupe concept back in 2015 that was nothing more than a preview for the G90.

I think this Concept X is the same, showcasing some of the design traits to preview the new 2023 G90.

Agreed, I see nothing wrong with using the old 8 Series as inspiration. The current BMW design staff could learn a thing or two about their own past.

The design of this coupe is says "Boss" all over it. Hope a production version is too watered down from this.

No idea. It’s a Buick that’s for sure. Saw it at the Auto show in Toronto 5 years ago.

to me that concept you posted was close to the g90.

completely disagree as this concept is a sleek small coupe.

The Genesis Vision G was a coupe too. And some of the design features of the X Concept can already been seen on spyshots of the next G90, like the grille shape and twin light setup that runs across from the entire bumper past the wheel arches to the door.

If Genesis builds it, they will come! Unfortunately, not in sufficient numbers to justify the R&D cost. For some reason, the market is in love with SUV's and pickups, so that's where all the R&D $ is going. However, moving toward more sustainable platforms, coups may make a comeback in the future!

I don't know if coupes have a place with the EV platforms. You don't need a long hood as the motors are directly tied to the axles now and the batteries are the chassis itself. I think the 4 door sportback look of the Audi Etron GT will be the sporty choice with more practicality vs a coupe. RWD EVs are inherently mid/rear weight bias so they handle well naturally.

I was thinking in terms of "light weight." My 85 MR2 weighs only 2300 lbs, so it would be an excellent subject to convert to EV.

The long hood on the concept wouldn't be necessary in an EV, and is likely for style only, or, as one poster said, "for a frunk!"

I don't think so if you wanted much range. Ev's are heavy because of the battery, not because of the rest of the car.
and your mr2 simply doesn't have anywhere to put a big battery pack.

I do have a trunk and a frunk for battery storage. The first gen had way more storage than the latter gens.
