Exro's claimed technology could disrupt the electric car market
Now that a car mag is talking about the tech maybe we can too without the mods shutting the thread
https://driving.ca/auto-news/news/electric-motor-company-to-open-calgary-plant-with-50
as per the ceo this a small facility designed to build small orders In-house. The company will contract out all large volume orders.
it’s a boutique facility giving them control over the r&d. So the small volume facility will only be generating around $2B in sales annually.
I can’t think of bigger car news

Offer some full disclosure and state whether you have money invested in their stock.
looks to me like they are making a lot of noise about a new inverter used to drive an electric motor. They’re basically setting themselves up for a big cushy buyout by some company like GM so they can go retire in style

Having money in a stock has no relevance on the validity of the technology.
for example I have a few GM’s and they are rolling piles of junk. I’m invested in a crappy product.

that was the whole point of the article. They are building a facility in Calgary to supply a few low volume 100,000 a year to tier one automakers. So indeed OEMs not only will be using this but at least one is signed up to use it.
it’s big news. 30% increase in efficiency in Electric vehicles??? This is the kind of thing that will help the transition from ICE to BEV
its no longer “if” the tech is worthwhile. That bridge has been crossed
The company is a supplier to Polaris and all their electric motors and batteries will have Exro tech in them. So you are correct they will be an oem supplier.
same with KTM electric motorbikes.
they validated the tech with smaller voltages and are now moving into cars and semis. Hence the building of the Calgary facility.
the tech is scalable to all electric motors and the focus is on mobility.
im excited about it as it’s capturing efficiency in the clean energy sector
30% cleaner is no small feat.
what I am discovering talking about it and caring about it are completely different universes.

Do they have any demonstrations of their controllers? Pictures? Anything? Independent tests? I did find this, sparse on the details.

They have Motorino Demo Bikes but due to Covid restrictions they are not having the public come through.
otherwise it’s reading news releases and watching YouTube videos of the CEO explain the tech and where they are taking the company.
For me it’s simply talking to a few friends who work there
their partnerships are impressive, very.

I'd like to see the actual hardware not CG presentations. To be clear I'm not saying the company is a fraud or has the greatest tech ever. I'm saying talk is cheap show me the goods. I do find their claim of a 30% efficiency uplift hard to believe.
seeking alpha is very bearish

Exro is supplying Zero motorcycles battery and coil driver technology. Polaris just signed a 10 year deal with Zero to provide them with the electric drive trains. There is no news release stating exactly this however there is enough information online to deduce this. Official NR will substantiate these claims in time.
Exro is targeting the OEM suppliers and not the Big name automakers / toy makers directly

thats a silly comment. Why would Exro sell to a litte company like GM when their products cross into every electric motor made? GM is only an auto company they don’t make Trains, boats, bikes, motorbikes, quads, among many other things this technology is going into.
they may invest in Exro like companies have in Rivian but buy them out? That’s an impossibility as far as how the market works
the tech is far to vast for GM
