Charlie from Asian Petrolhead just did a walk-through of the electric G80:

It seems that the biggest penalty compared to the ICE will be the back seats and trunk space being cut down because of the battery, like a hybrid. The battery will be 87 kWH, which is only slightly larger than the 77kWH battery in the Ioniq 5.

as for the battery being only slightly larger than the ioniq 5, why would it be bigger? the ioniq 5 is NOT a small vehicle. it's wheelbase is apparently bigger than a palisade! of course some of that comes from being EV/RWD vs ICE/FWD.

the g80 was designed to be an EV, but being both ICE and EV means there's some pretty huge compromises. i guess they put some of the battery in the front and the rest under the rear passenger area and some of the trunk. the range isn't great but apart from that, it should be a great car.

I don't think the compromises in space are too bad because they're the same as what we see in a lot of hybrids like the ES300H. Personally I would take an EV powertrain over a hybrid anyday.

C&D just tested it. 4.1s 0-60, 95 MPGe with a 280 mile range in highway cruising. Genesis underrated this car in pretty much every metric.![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Tested: 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 Bridges the EV Gap
It's more efficient than the EQS and it wouldn't surprise me if it had better range than the EQE500.![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I'd be very surprised if the range of the EQE500 is under 300mi. Despite it's relatively lackluster efficiency, the EQS have been hitting its range estimates easily in highway tests as well and I don't expect the EQE to be any different. Hyundai/Kia/Genesis' dedication to efficiency is remarkable and is easily going to cement them as front runners in the EV space. I actually got to sit in an Electrified G80 during a recent business trip and wow that back seat got compromised - that's where the lack of a dedicated platform became extremely apparent. I hope the GV70 doesn't suffer a similar fate. Otherwise I'd call this a winner.

The back seat is compromised on the G80 EV compared to the ICE, but the EQE suffers some of the same issues like the raised floor and low roofline for the passengers. It does seem to have more legroom though.

I'm having a hard time with these two sentences:
How is $80,920 "more than double" $50,595? Am I missing something obvious or is math completely failing me today? ![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Consumers looking to purchase an Electrified G80 will find that the sedan costs $80,920 (with destination).
Compared to the gas-powered G80, the Electrified G80 is more than double the price, as the base G80 starts at $50,595 and goes up to $66,345.

So far so smooth with the electrified G80 this week. It's a far better luxury ride than the G80 Sport we drove earlier this year. Good electric push in Sport mode, but there's still a bit of weight to it, as with all EVs. The gas G80 Sport isn't exactly a canyon carver either though.
On the positive side, the range is shaping up to be well north of the estimated 282 miles. We're on track to hit nearly 350 miles, and that's with plenty of streaming highway speeds (tougher for EVs) as well as the A/C cranked and massage seat going, etc. Pretty "efficient" with the electricity as well at over 3.7 miles/kWh thus far. That's more efficient than our smaller Polestar 2 is.

Watching some videos on this now, this car to me is very compelling. It looks great, looks and feels like a car and man if you can get over 300 miles of range, that’s tempting.
