I can be without an ice maker for a week; hot water is another thing.
thanks for the anecdote. I imagine that he wasn’t too happy about that!

Like I said I was skeptical myself but my friend who has had all kinds of things fixed pool included is what made us pull the trigger. One of our a/c units has a leak and needs to be replaced and it will need a new kind of Freon. They won’t cover all of it I’m sure but some, we will see. $500 instead of $2000 for a sparkling brand new water heater was nice.

I would advise any homeowner anticipating replacing anything sooner rather than later to look into one of these. We knew damn well our old WH was on its last leg and needed to be replaced, they don’t care what condition any of your stuff is in.
So what happens when I have to replace my fridge? Do I get to choose what fridge I want? Do they give me an allowance to apply to my choice? I would never be happy having the warranty co dictate what I can replace a major appliance with.

lol IDK, I don't want rid of my fridge. It's an older maybe decade-old Whirpool, no NASA control panels or 40 electric actuators to get ice. And it runs like a clock. They really don't make stuff like they used to.

They did have to come out for the ice maker, though, and I ended up getting a better model. It's the old school kind too the ice dispenser, the rotating giant screw thing in the ice container.

If your fridge is replaced it will be replaced by one at least as nice. My water heater is way nicer than the old one, they added a few things like an expansion tank etc.

The process is you pay the $100 service call fee, they come out and assess, then come back and fix or replace it.

Yeah garage sizes, especially on corporate builder you get 3 floor plans to choose from houses, make absolutely no sense to me. I mean even on expensive/big tract houses you get shafted on garage space. This goes back decades too, yeah cars might have gotten smaller for a brief period in the 70's/early 80's but a lot of people still had those Electra 225/Coupe Deville type of boats that wouldn't fit in a new 70's/80's house garage as well. Then those boats were replaced by even bigger Suburbans and full size trucks by the 1990's, yet you couldn't fit two of those types of trucks in the garage because they were too long, not to mention you couldn't open the doors.

i have a 3 car, with a 2 wide opening and a 1 wide opening. the 1 wide opening i could barely get a miata into when i had one. i use it for my golf cart now.
the 2 car side, we put our two cars in there (infiniti and lexus coupes) and it's snug. i have to be careful getting in and out of the LC because of the long doors and as i park on the right side, i never let a passenger get in because of the likelihood they'd hit the door on the wall. i always back out first.

i've mulled over a few times just building another garage entirely and maybe making my current garage a workshop and/or den or expanding the rest of the house into it or something.

that of course would be a major construction project, i'm guessing $100K.

We just got this for the new garage walls, as it's still a little narrow, although much deeper than our old garage. Helps on the wall sides. Ideally I'd have the setup of my friends in michigan. 2 double door garages (4 cars of space). Wife can have one entire one so she won't hit the edges or the walls and can open doors freely. Then I can have the other side.

No kidding. My mother in laws' house is supposed to be in a nice/decent neighborhood but some are rented out. She wishes she had HOA. On the other hand, some neighbors suck when you have HOA. I remember in my previous house we had some lemongrass in the back yard and HOA sent us a letter saying "you must remove the weeds in your backyard." Sometimes we get a letter for not having enough trees/flowers in front yard. HOA can be annoying but I do prefer it over non HOA.

I just use carpet remnants left over from when we got new carpet when we bought our house.

yes, unless i have a high barrier (wall, fence, trees, distance) from neighbors, i'd want an hoa. they can be a pain, but so can irresponsible or crazy neighbors.

Congrats. We moved this year as well. I was over a small condo with no garage. Now I have the garage space that makes me happy.

When we first got the garage, it was a bit rough. It had been smoked in for decades. A remodel was in order.

On went some Sealer and paint.

The cement was scrubbed and sealed.

In went a heater. Here I’m playing with flooring patterns.

This is the one I choose.

Many Facebook marketplace purchases later. The storage is more sorted now, but I need to update my pictures.

Now I’m test drilling and lining up the spot to install a 2 post lift.

Oddly, this is my only saved picture showing it’s a 3 car garage. I have dropped the ball with pictures.

I hated having cars outside. It can really ruin paint, and makes keeping maintenance a pain.

So jealous of nice big garages. That three car garage looks wide and deep.

Man you guys are killing me right now. A 2-car garage is a must for our next house but we’re having no luck in this market. Congrats to you guys that were able to make moves. I got “ garage envy”.
