I was hoping for a bit more in terms of range, but I do think it will do well as long as it's priced appropriately. C&D estimated a starting price around $37k, which is about the price of a RAV4 Hybrid I think it will sell well if it comes well equipped at that price.
if the XLE comes in at 37k and I would assume there is a LE model for less. This would certainly be a winner.

Range thing can be easily fixed, if Toyota is not being a Toyota. To compare with others, they can increase the size of the battery to match other vehicles, and they would end up having really good range. Seems like in FWD model, 64kwh is usable and from that they get 250 miles of range.

If the BZ4X XLE really starts around $37K then with the $7,500 tax credit you can potentially own one for $30K. Compared to the 2021 MSRPs of the RAV4 lineup, not a bad deal for a daily driver. Hopefully it sells well so Toyota/Lexus can invest in some future "performance" EVs. Or I guess I can wait for the Mazda version for some more refinement and zoom-zoom? Haha.

RAV4 LE Hybrid - $29K
RAV4 XLE Hybrid - $30K
RAV4 XLE Premium Hybrid - $33K
RAV4 XSE Hybrid - $35K
RAV4 Limited Hybrid - $37K
RAV4 SE Prime - $38K
RAV4 XSE Prime - $42K

they know what they are doing, they made Prime a "performance" version of Rav4, they did not have to... they probably are trying hard for it not to compete with Lexus and quite likely there will be higher performance version later on - they already announced their e-axles with more power, just like the one that FWD version has - that would be over 400hp.

Side of the new EV looks really good. Not really loving the front of the Toyota version. Interior materials and quality look 1sr rate, but steering wheel design is a little odd, but I get why they did it. If the price of an XLE is really $37k then it will do well, but if it starts at that price, but is just a base model then it’s too overpriced. I thought there would a really cheap L version with like no screen for $29k. This looks like it will be direct alternative to the RAV4 hybrid which makes it interesting to me, about the same hp, but chose your carbon-reduction reasons for buying each other. First manufacturer to promise only 10% battery loss after 10 years is the spot on Toyota thing to do range is a disappointment but I’m sure there will be bZ5X next with more power and range. The wheelbase is the same as Toyota Land Cruiser. For me, this is the only EV vehicle I have seen that perfectly hits right in the middle of what a gas car/design is an what a completely weird/awkward/futuristic/advanced an EV can be, when you open the hood it takes a minute not to see that there is no gas motor in there but everything seems right. Range is not great, power is just typical Toyota. Should sell quite well knowing that Toyota will sell this in every market they can…Made is Japan is just so proper

Default 2022 Subaru Solterra STI concept revealed, not what you expect

Subaru wasted no time in giving the Solterra, its first series-produced electric car, the STI treatment. Part of it, anyways. It introduced a concept called Solterra STI at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon that features a sportier-looking exterior design and a stock drivetrain.

Displayed next to the Nürburgring-bound STI E-RA, the Solterra STI stands out with a body kit that includes a front splitter, rocker panel extensions on both sides, winglets on either side of the rear bumper and a roof-mounted spoiler. Many of these add-ons are painted cherry red to create a visual link between the Solterra STI and some of the other STI-badged cars that Subaru displayed in the Japanese capital.

Black 20-inch wheels with cherry red accents add a finishing touch to the exterior design. Subaru hasn't released interior photos.

Enthusiasts have come to expect a lot from the STI badge: it denoted a half-liter increase in displacement and a 42-horsepower bump, among other upgrades, when added to the last-generation WRX. And yet, it doesn't sound like Subaru made significant powertrain or chassis modifications to the Solterra STI, meaning the crossover should accelerate, brake and handle exactly like the outdoorsy, family-friendly model that's headed for production. Power comes from a pair of electric motors (one per axle) that zap the four wheels with 215 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. Maximum driving range should check in at about 220 miles, according to early estimates.

Subaru hasn't revealed whether the Solterra STI concept will eventually end up in showrooms or if it's merely a design exercise.

Without reading through the previous posts, is this car related to the Rav4? It seems very similar in styling and proportions.

Reviews are out for the Subaru Solterra - seems like it performs better than expected considering the specs sheet. Charging times are disappointing, but I guess it doesn't matter too much considering most people would charge overnight at home.

It definitely looks very promising overall in terms of features, design, quality etc.

Only downsides are the slow charging and not being able to buy one due to very limited production.

0-60 in about 6.2s which is okay...but slowest in the segment. Charging is a complete joke...seriously. 15-80% in 56 min. An Ioniq will do that in less than 18 min and most of the slower competitors do that in about 30-40 min

I think the range is okay at about 220 miles. If it hits those EPA consistently, then range won't be much of an issue. If its much less than EPA, then it will be an issue. Pricing is key...if its the same price as the Ioniq / EV6, this thing is a disaster. If its high $30k to low $40k, then it may be okay.

It is true that if people charge at home it won't matter too much, but any type of longer trips where you need to do a quick charge would turn into a pain. You want to be able to get from 10-80 percent in 30 minutes min or less
