Kind of eye opening on where Toyota EV tech is at the moment. Slowest accelerating, slowest charging, with the least amount of range. Trifecta!
But hey, at least it will be reliable...

I think what shows where Toyota BEV tech is right now, is that you do not have a charging screen inside vehicle, of any kind, and that there is no route planning of any kind.
I am sure it will get added, but that is where it is now.

Holy hell that 60-100 is bad.......my 60-120 in my Audi is 7.7, the 460 pulls off 60-100 in about 6, even a 430 does it in under 10.
This thing would feel like you hit a wall past 60 if you have ever driven anything even somewhat fast. I know EVs drop off but come on now.....at least Tesla carries the power well into the 100+ range

i dont think accelerating is the problem, actually it is ok for comparable models to VW and lots of Europeans.

Seems to me the only reason to get the BZ over the ID4 is brand loyalty.

If you compare the ID.4 AWD to the AWD BZ4X which are the most comparable vehicles (both around $50k), the ID4 has more real world range 190 vs. 160 miles, faster at 0-60 in 5.4s vs. 6.3s, way faster 0-100 14.5s vs. 18s, and better charging speeds at 125 kw vs. 100kw. At least the European BZ will get better charging at 150kw with the Panasonic pack but the ID4 is supposed to get 150kw through an update soon.
Seems to me the only reason to get the BZ over the ID4 is brand loyalty.

Also, AWD in Europe will have better batteries.
Problem is deeper, and another problem is ID4 sux too, and is not having great sales either.
For instance, Stellantis is eating VW lunch in Europe, and nobody talks about it. Let alone Tesla.
So being better 5% than VW in some things does not matter as VW is not good either.
Plus software non existance and CATL/US/China charging are just stop sales thing.

If this car cost 15-20k I would be in line to buy one but this is just hilarious at the price they want. No point to it. An econobox being sold for a premium that also comes with a heap of inconveniences you need to live with.

It'll also be the most expensive when Toyota runs out of of that $7K tax credit in a few months, even before dealer price gouging. I just do not understand the strategy behind this car, it's like they're treating it as just another compliance vehicle.

The Solterra having the same Daily scores as the Model Y, Mach-E, Ioniq 5, and EV6 actually surprised me. Doing poorly on the Weekend scores was not surprising.
Looking like a small upgrade from the RAV4 Prime which is such a Toyota strategy.
The updated "American" interior for the ID.4 should be ready once VW starts producing the ID.4 in Tennessee later in 2022 so its Daily scores should improve for 2023.
The ID.4's interior and infotainment has been panned by reviewers. Most likely it gets updated for 2023.
Doug has it tied with the RAV4 Prime and below the Solterra. I was actually surprised.

The 160 miles highway range is not good as a road tripper, but surprised the bZ4X's highway efficiency (86 mpge) was better than the ID.4 RWD (82 mpge).
The ID.4 AWD would probably be even less efficient.
Model Y Long Range with 94 mpge is the best.
Definitely would only consider the FWD bZ4X at this point for better efficiency, faster charging and more range compared to the AWD version.
The FWD bZ4X is the most efficient and the one to get (especially in the US).
