Just over a year ago, early in the pandemic, I ran to the gas station to fill up my lawn equipment gas cans. I have 3 cans and that gets me through the spring and half way through summer.

As I was filling up the cans, someone walked by the pump and told me that the world isn't ending and I don't need to hoard gas. LOL...no buddy, just doing yard work!

I dunno what has happened. But the southern United States looks like a developing nation at the moment. It is really sad to see stuff like this.

rediculous to have a pipeline shutdown like this. And even worse to see people filling plastic bags

Officials warn people not to fill plastic bags with gasoline amid panic over gas shortage

Unfortunately isolated news making incidents like this would happen anywhere with a similar shutdown. It's not confined to any particular area of the country.
Update: According to the link, the pic of bags filled with gas appear to be several years old. The Product Safety Commission was just reminding people to not do it.

Whoever the jerks were that carried out this hacking, apparently they have demanded ransom.

Supposedly (?), the pipeline got off to a slow re-start at 5 PM EDT today. Perhaps the engineers found a way around the ransom and were able to ignore it.

Welcome to the 21st Century. Cyber-warriors fight and attack with weapons on their keyboards, not in a conventional manner with traditional weapons. We have seen this, time and time again, in recent years...and will probably see more of it in the future.

What I found hilarious about this whole thing is Colonial Pipeline had a job posting for "IT Security Manager". The posting had been up for more than a month. Which tells me they didn't take hackers seriously, were paying their IT people ****e, you know cause lets save a buck or two. Just to have it blow up in their faces(figuratively, would have been one hell of a feat if the hackers did blow up the pipeline)

It's time for audit requirements and criminal negligence actions against companies that clearly don't do enough to stop hackers.

In other news, we've been at $4.50/gallon in Los Angeles for months now. As usual, no investigation on the robbery.

Most likely they are our own militant environmentalists. These degenerates have been constantly talking about blowing up pipelines.

With all due respect, that might be an ambiguous statement. Where do you draw the line? The criminal mind, when the Devil is leading it, often knows no bounds. No matter what is done to try and stop hackers, they can (and sometimes do) find new ways around it.
