Good afternoon everyone,

My daughters 07 is250 rwd auto lost its transmission about 3.5 hours from me and I need to tow it to my house to work on it. She is a student and does not want to pay a wrecker gobs of money to get it here and either do I. The question I have, can I tow it with a tow dolly? Worried my truck cannot handle the weight on a trailer, so a tow dolly would be best. Can this be done? what do I need to disassemble to not do anymore damage? Thanks

Paying a tow truck is going to be a lot cheaper than damaging your truck or her car even more.

I had a similar situation one (now have AAA 100 miles towing). I borrowed a suitable truck and rented a trailer for like $30.

Thanks, that is likely what I am going to do, just thought I read someplace I have to drop the drive shaft to tow, which will have to come off with the trans swap anyway. A dolly and my smaller truck would work great if I can do it that way. I am not a fan of borrowing other folks vehicles to use a full trailer
