Beautiful example! I've always liked the Verossa, especially the VR25 1JZ-GTE VVT-i models!
However there is something off in this article: No J160 6-speed transmission was ever bolted to a 1JZ-GTE engine or any 2JZ from the factory. The Verossa VR25 (1JZ-GTE) only came with the options of a 4-speed automatic transmission or an R154 5-speed manual transmission. I'm not sure how this owner was able to bolt the weaker J160 6-speed to his JZ engine (and several times at that) in the first place.
From the factory the J160 style manual gearbox was used on the Altezza with the 3S-GE BEAMS engine and a version of it has been used on the FR-S/GT86/GR86/BRZ coupes. Also on the Mazda RX-8, Nissan Silvia and the Mazda MX-5 Miata. But it was never sold from the factory on a 1JZ-GTE powered vehicle or any JZ equipped vehicle.
That aside, the owner has a great piece of Toyota history on his hands! Wishing him lots of enjoyment with it!
I always thought this was a weird looking car but I still liked it. I’d prefer a Crown, Cresta, Cressida, Chaser, or Aristo though. It’d be my last choice out of the cool Toyota sedan, but the 1JZ-GTE makes the car cool.
