Elon Musk: "I think generally... all input is 'error'..."
Mr. Musk's comment was said at an event highlighting the removal of the driver PRND control stalk in the new Model S (and future Tesla models following its release).
Interesting take. Suggesting that all human driver input is an "error" really reinforces his opinion of the role of vehicle drivers in general.
It also makes it even clearer to me that if I actually LIKE driving and being engaged with what one would call a "driver's car" (and not just 0-60 times), Musk doesn't really seem to be on board with sharing in that passion for driving or understand why anyone would or would want to.
Certainly many people truly like his approach and his vehicles and that's totally cool. To each their own.
There are a number of Tesla owners on the CL forum so please understand that I don't condone digging on anyone's choices in an automobile if it's what they love and is a machine they enjoy. However I nonetheless feel it's worth posting to have a better understanding of what Mr. Musk intends to do with his vehicle product features (or lack of features depending on your perspective).

Since Elon pointed out the new S Plaid has graphics ability of a PS5, can surf the net, play games and watch movies (he did mention you might do those things while charging), one gets the sense he's saying those features will be useful when the car drives itself.
of course teslas never make 'errors'. if one reads any review of its "full self-driving" there will be praise as well as multiple anecdotes of scary moments.

What specifically is pointless...the video or this thread?
I'm interested in the Tesla models and their capabilities, although, I wouldn't trust buying (subscribing/leasing) one until they improve their reliability ratings.
Regarding Musk and his rhetoric...he gets attention by saying/doing outrageous things (like appearing on Rogan and SNL). While many love to hate him, I actually like the guy and enjoy his presentations/performances. He is as quirky as it gets, but he is also as smart as it gets. These qualities tend to go hand-in-hand. As with Jobs, I love his drive for innovation and his insight in marketing. They focus(ed) on the making insanely great products for their customers, as all companies should!
