You get what you pay for. Otherwise, small engines, turbos, start stop crap. On-demand awd instead of full time

Worth every penny. Gas won’t be like this forever. It’s not as bad as rated. 13 city 20 highway. Piddling around town, only driving 6k miles (between both of us, and both cars) the fuel cost is minimal. Fuel is a part of life. I’ll be spending probably $100 a day on boat fuel this summer, that’s going to crunch….but oh well. Even still LC/LX is a very special vehicle IMO. If you have to pay the piper in gas, that’s part of it. I would bet money that in 10 years the V8 it has will make it even more desirable.

this weekend took a long trip to pick up an indoor plant while shopping. usually we spend a whole day in the car. End of the day we stopped at our favorite pizza shop. Opened the tailgate my kids were all sat there enjoyed the PA valleys view.
lack of this feature in the new LX is a deal breaker

Would be so great for camping or------tailgating!!!!!!

Can't believe it's been almost a year. We have only put around 6k miles on it (see, we don't drive anywhere and have an untouched creampuff superflous LS430 too), and LOTS of that is from me driving around aimlessly after surgery to maintain an upright position and get out of the house. I'm getting a ceramic coating done soon, and the boat will be here soon so I can't wait to see how the 5.7 makes mincemeat out of towing it.

Right??? What other SUVs have tailgates?

It’s nothing special innovation wise but sure handy and nice. Use the tailgate for whatever, you have two nice ML speakers overhead, and a plug in outlet right there. Why would they drop that??? It goes way back with the LC/LX. Use it for food, sitting on….tailgating at ballgames etc.

Y’all see why we buy used cars now, just ones in top, top notch condition? 6k miles in a year. The truck is still like new. Got it for a steal before prices went up. Wouldn’t have been a huge car payment if we financed.

Pretty much just average. At least with the 570 you had an engine that was not available in any other Lexus.

My X7 has a split tailgate. To be honest I could take it or leave it, not a deal breaker for me. I actually liked the old barn door on my old GX's but I am clearly in the minority as many did not like that.

Nice on the Bimmer but barn door I couldn’t do. Another reason we waited for LX vs GX.

I would trade my silly roll down window in my 4Rs for a split tailgate.

Oh no, those are great too. Would be cool to have both if possible at all.

Nah. The roll down is over rated.

I liked the roll down window in my 4Runner.

Our Highlander has the hatch glass that can open separately and we use that all of the time. The new one doesn't have that and I consider that to be a big loss. It's very handy.

We often "picnic" out of the back of the Highlander. No tail gate, but we just open the hatch and sit in the back, with our legs out, and it works great even though there isn't a separate tailgate.

You are probably one of the few that think that and are probably in the minority. Just like I’m one of the few that liked the barn door.

I know….and I actually own two 4Rs with them. The roll down window is just something that has never mattered to me. If you carry something long, the window has to open all the way otherwise the long item sits on the glass. We had two previous Lexus LX models, I’d prefer those power vented windows in the 3rd row over the roll down…and I would rather have a hatch glass that pops up. I see the new Sequoia has the roll down window deleted.

I know and we have discussed that these weren’t big sellers, but damn if there aren’t tons around. Yesterday I saw at least 6-7 LC/LX and today I saw 2 LXs on just a mile trip to the gas station today. Granted I’m in one of several West Knoxville bubbles, but they are everywhere.

Maybe it’s a Southeastern thing? There are old 100s everywhere too.

Interesting on this, I mentioned when I was in Alabama I saw a TON of LS430s...I mean like 10 in the 2 days I was there, where I maybe see one every 2 weeks or 3 weeks here. Did not see one LS460. I think a lot of higher end used cars get shipped down to the southeastern US after they go past a certain age and mileage where customers up here don't want them anymore. For a good car like the LS430 (or a LC or LX) theres a whole next life to be had...
