If she's looking to lease I would look at something domestic. How about the new Grand Cherokee? Or an Explorer?

I would have no concerns about a Kia/Hyundai product.

I’d have concerns about buying a Kia/Hyundai. Especially when Hyundai has issued warning about parking indoors in a home garage. If I leased, not sure I’d be concerned.

Look at the reliability stats, Hyundai/Kia/Genesis are doing very well.

Hyundai / Kia come with 10 year warranties. Most people that buy don't keep the car that long.

She is leasing, and she is pretty clueless about cars, her previous car was a Murano or some other ugly Nissan. Whatever decent deals my leasing agent offers, we'll be better able to make a selection, I mostly posted to see if anyone knew if there is particular manufacturer that is offering better deals that others.

For $450/month, she can get into a new RX. I think that is the safest and smartest way to go if she wants something on the premium side at a good price. The Lexus will be dead reliable and she'll have a positive experience with service.
Beyond the Lexus, the Highlander would also be a wise choice. But I think the RX has the best lease deals right now. I'd avoid the American and Korean brands. Most are plagued with endless recalls and quality control. -not to be trusted over the long-term.
