Now that we’re on the screen, why are Lexus screens not angled towards the driver? I really like how BMW screens are angled.
It's just Jill that likes the old screen for some strange reason.

I don’t like the graphics or software. I just think the screen looks better integrated compared to the new one that looked tacked on

These will sell. We all know how Toyota keeps ancient platforms but they sell. There are so many GXs around here it's ridiculous. I see tons of the 2021(?) model, the one where they refreshed the front again all the time.

I think at least a part of it is that Toyota knows that people like their trucks....trucks. Yes that could be interpreted as resting on their laurels but I don't think that's the sole reason. Right now in these days where we have commercials of Tellurides going off road and mudding, it's nice to have the actual real thing available.

I dislike the nav system.
Is there any car company that does not have the disclaimer? Why didn't you start the car before you leave? Did you try the new nav?

Along with the last cosmetic upgrade I too think this is a great improvement. Sure it's due for 3rd gen, but heck they added quite a few last few years. It's crazy to see all these negative comments, esps from those that have not even owned one. If I haven't had a GX, I wouldn't mind jumping in. There's really nothing else to compare at its price and what it offers.

Yes there is just something about it that tugs at the owner's heart strings, terrible center stack and infotainment and all. Like some vehicles one can easily describe it as fast, beautiful, luxurious, the badges, handles like a dream. I just cant describe but I do feel the GX is more than the sum of its parts and it speaks to me and I can sense it has a personality.

I don't have a GX but I have two 4Runners. For me, the combination of always on 4wd, the lower gearing which allows one to just touch the the throttle and you just idle up and go...the way the seating is that you up top...the structure as well with the fully boxed frame just makes it feel so special. Anoether thing that people overlook is that there is no lip on the floor as you enter the interior....it is just open

I'll give auto another chance since I wasn't a fan of it previously, but it doesn't negate my comment about the function.

Disclaimer comment, sure...but I was commenting on needing to wait for this notification upon start-up to go away and then going thru the motions to get to the AC button. Whats new nav? I have a 2015, so I'm not familiar with it nor do I want to add something aftermarket to this vehicle. I don't have nor wan't remote start (again, don't want to alter the electronics) so I start the car when I get into it and have to turn on the AC when I need it.

It doesn't matter. That is not the point. He can adjust the HVAC controls 500 times in a 15 minute drive, that is fine. The thing is, it's completely indefensible that any auto manufacturer puts climate controls in a screen. There should ALWAYS be hard buttons for this. No exception. Tapping some screen several times to adjust the AC or heat settings is one of the many terrible trends going on in the automotive world.

I guess everyone hates buttons and wants a "streamlined" look to their cars.

xjokerz, I have to admit I have a LOT of respect for your posts....they exhibit simple common sense. Thank you, it seems you do as well. There's something freeing about being in older vehicles to where you aren't consumed with overboard tech and more conservative designs from years ago. I can't describe it but when I sit in a newer car I'm not as comfortable as something that's older.

For certain things I too like hard buttons. In my Durango it had climate control buttons but then the seat heater/cooler, heated steering wheel and the sync function were only accessible on the screen and it drove me nuts. They did fix that issue in the 2021 refresh and now have hard buttons for seat heater/cooler and heated steering wheel.

On my BMWs they have hard buttons for all except the sync button and it drives me crazy. The good thing as mention before is that you can program 8 hard buttons for functions and I programmed the 1st hard button for syncing the climate. Still annoys me though.

Not sure how you can assess what "everyone" thinks. most people today i'd guess don't want a screen for everything. Tesla's single center screen and almost NO buttons on the model 3/Y was done, i believe, primarily for COST reasons. i think it looks terrible for one thing, and i have no interest in only being able to change the VENTS angle/flow from the screen for example. That's completely ridiculous IMO (yeah, your favorite abbreviation, just for you ).

most other new vehicles available today do still have climate buttons/controls thankfully.

about screens vs buttons in general, have you driven a new car and used voice commands? they've come a long way. I use mine for navigation and phone calls mainly but the feature can control a whole ton of stuff in the car, very easily. Not distracting, easy to use, one button on the wheel to engage.

Nothing wrong with a separate digital clock. Kind of like a separate digital AC temp setting display. Nothing wrong with any of those things. Displays that look like an afterthought, on the other hand...

I think this looks dramatically better, although I did like the old setup a lot.

As a former Lexus Delivery Specialist, I loved how simple the old 2014-2021 setup was. It was the easiest car to deliver and customers loved that touch screen. As much as I loved it, the GX still used the Gen 8.5 nav system and was three generations behind the 2020 RX.

I would love to see a redesigned GX but I’m satisfied with how this looks. If I could afford one, I’d totally get one.

Wait a minute, Lexus added the dreaded touchpad and a touch screen along with the CD player.
